Best First Experience, BA or Qantas?

I have a choice between BA or Qantas metal for some upcoming flights in F and wondered which was the better product/had better service? I have never flown QF before and I am relatively happy with BA F ("enhancements" aside).

I would apprciate the views of those who have personal experience of both services particularly the major pros and cons of each carrier.

My experience is old and limited (BA YVR-LHR-BKK-SYD and back in '01 and QF LAX-SYD/MEL-LAX last year) but BA had the more comfortable beds (biggest factor for me).

I think they are much the same. I would pretty much just go with whichever has the best schedule. I would choose QF a smidgen over BA since I prefer the cabin layout of QF. I am not a great fan of the angled seating on BA when having a window seat.

I did a RTW in F a few months ago on BA and QF. I, too, don't think there's a huge difference between the two products. I have a slight preference for BA however, based on punctuality rather than anything else. My SYD/LAX flight was delayed out of SYD due to the crew showing up late and my domestic flights were late as well. Friends in Oz say that QF has real on-time problems both domestically and internationally.

My experience is that the BA seats are more comfortable, but the QF service works a little harder. The new QF seats are still not as good as the BA seats. QF is also still flying some airplanes around with the old F seats on them. So I'd go with BA. After all the service is great on both, just a little more great on QF. The seat difference is clear though.
