How Do I Get From New York to Grantham?

Is there convenient rail service from London, or would you recommend driving from BHX or MAN? Also, is there a closer UK Airport that I could use. I'm going to stick with a OW airline, so I do have some choices.
Thanks for the assistance.

Grantham is on the main east coast line. I havent used it for many years so it may be slower and less reliable, but it would get you from Kings Cross to Grantham in appx 1.5 hours.

KX is also a one line tube ride from LHR.

Driving from Manchester is far from ideal to Grantham, and the motorway network around BHX is not so hot either. I never thought I'd say this but I'd take my chances with the railway.

Grantham is almost equidistant between London and Leeds on the main railway line, so there's frequent services to both, taking about 1h20.

I guess the closest airports would be EMA and STN, but I think you're better just heading to LHR, then going into London and getting the train from King's Cross. See http://www.gner.co.uk/ for details.

However, not all trains on the east coast line stop at Grantham, but there are still at least one train an hour during the day. Check out a timetable here. GNER (the train company who operate this line) are actually one of the better UK train companies - but if you can book seats in advance it would be better - try the GNER website for info on fares and booking - I know there have been difficulties in the past booking if not based in the UK. They should also have timetable information.
