BA Express Parking: What are the benefits? (Also, earn triple miles in coming months)

If you fly in FIRST, Club World, Club Europe or you are an Executive Club member, you will never have to worry about finding a parking space at Heathrow. There is no searching for a parking space, no bus transfers to and from the terminal and, most importantly, no stress.

Time is one of the most precious assets for a business traveller. In recognition of this, British Airways offers the Express Parking service at Terminals 1 and 4 at London Heathrow Airport, through our relationship with Central Parking System of UK Ltd (CPS).

For all bookings made up until the end of October 2003, Triple Miles are offered on all stays between 12 December 2003 and 31 January 2004. This offer is available at Terminals 1 and 4 at London Heathrow, and offers you the ability to pre-book and drive straight to the terminal.

To make your booking and receive your bonus miles, click here to access the most student put together webpage ever seen on the internet, oh yeah and to book online

OK so I am leisure traveller people drop me off at the airport. I rarely leave a car at Heathrow. I have seen the Express Parking booth on the T4 drop off ramp and at T1 but how much more expensive is it than regular parking? Or is it cheaper because it is a perk subsidised by the F / CW / CE fare?

Could some please enlighten me on the service or is 'Express Parking' a flash name for valet

PS. How many miles do you get for it anyhow?

As far as I can see, the extra cost of this service compared to nearby alternatives simply is simply not justifiable, even with triple miles.

I took a quote from BA recently for an 8-day stay: they wanted something like 160. Park and Fly, which is about 2 minutes from T4, charged just 65 (pre-book rate). They have a good bus service to and from T4 every 7 minutes, and to T1, 2 & 3 every 20 minutes.

Much as I want to collect miles, I'm not going to pay an extra 95 for the small quantity available on this transaction!

I used to use the BA parking at Manchester short term car park and found it great. I would book the weekend rate for the car parking and then use the BA parking area to park the car. I could park the car closer to the check in than if I had gone by Taxi. With the discounted weekend rate, it was cheaper than the long term car park

You can get the same type of service from Purple Parking, who I've been using for years, for significantly less. They collect the car from you outside the terminal building, and deliver it back to you at the same place when you return. They are charging about 35 return (or 17.50 each way, if you only need the valet service on way) in addition to the car parking which is about 7 per day. For a two day weekend, that BA service wants about 66, compared to 49 for PP.

The BA service at T1 is also ceasing from 26 October 2003.

The place I always look for parking (and hotel/parking combinations) is http://www.holidayextras.co.uk

For example, 7 days parking with CPS (Chauffeured Parking Service) who pick up your car at the terminal and drop it off when you return is only 82.80 (at Heathrow, at the end of November - since I am doing a trip then).

I also looked at BA's parking service for that period (we will be travelling Club World), but it was about twice the price (144.95) - eeek! Look at http://www.britishairways.com/travel...public/en_gb#6 Ok, an extra 60 odd pounds isn't a lot compared to two CW tickets, but...

We quite often use CPS (through Holiday Extras) because it is not very much for expensive than standard on-site airport parking (Purple Elephant - pre-paty through Holiday Extras - 55.60 for the 7 days). It saves time and is particularly worth it if you have a lot of luggage (i.e. you are going skiing).
