Tesco and the BA Executive Club.. or is it American Express

I read on the So close to 100k thread about some deal with Tescos.

-How does this work?
-Is it a deal with American Express or the EC?
-What do I need to start earning the miles?

I got myself a Clubcard today and asked whether you get bonus points with the AmEx card and the woman look baffled

Once again much obliged to you guys on here,
Fraser

To collect miles through Tesco you simply shop at Tesco and present your Club Card at check out when you pay. For every £1 you spend you get 1 clubcard point.( Which equates to 0.01p in club card vouchers)

Every 3 months you are sent clubcard vouchers. You can spend these in store or on a number of offers including Airmiles or BA Executive Club miles.

For evey £2.50 in vouchers you get 400
BA miles ( or if you prefer 40 airmiles).

However if you spend an average of £60 a week this is doubled to 800 BA miles or 80 Airmiles).

Thats timely - i've returned from Tesco without leaving my chair.

As a self confessed supermarketphobe - I regularly use Tesco dot com. Do all my grocery shopping online from the comfort of my powerbook.

Keep your eye out for bonus points: This month Finest Poached Salmon Side nets 100 bonus tesco points. Cognac usually attracts a chuck of bonus points too.

Did you happen to notice the More BA Miles With Tesco promotion? Runs until the end of September

Also, the BA Miles request form is tricky to locate - For some bizarre reason Tesco play down their partnership with EC yet prominently promote Air Miles.

Anyway, you can find a link on the BA site:

True, the BA form is very difficult to locate on Tesco's web site. I eventually found it here:

Fraser,

Your Tesco Clubcard gives 1 point per pound spent. This translates into 1.4 BA Miles. These numbers are for the non-Premium Clubcard - for that you need a higher level of Tesco spend & surely the fgbdavidson family can't shop at Tesco that much with Fortnums just up the road ??

Now Tesco accept AMEX, so present your Clubcard when you shop with AMEX at Tesco and you are getting 2.4 (minimum; more with a Premium Clubcard) for groceries you'd buy anyway. Nice work!

! Will anyone who spots fgb in a Tesco, please report it immediately!

ps anyone else in C on 396 to BRU today?

That's what I used to think too, but I was recent give the option to just have the points converted directly into my EC account - there was an extra coupon on the quarterly statement that I simply presented at the check out, IIRC.

Will check out the online site, as bonus points in store seem to be a ting of the past.

I know that the Tesco points conversion is limited to UK EC members (logical I suppose) but has anyone tried and succeeded / failed to get them credited to an EC EU account ?

Also are the points 'personal' in the sense that they cant in practice (I am interested in practice not theory) be credited to the EC account of someone with a different name ?

Watch out for me on a daily basis (well until next Saturday) when I pop in to Tesco Metro in Newbury for my lunch. 2.4 BA miles per £ spent, not bad!

Do remember to spend £x.01 as £1.99 only gets 1 point. Points are allocated by transation and not spend - nasty claw back.

Tesco Credit card earns more BA Miles as it's x2 points for spend at Tesco.

I noticed this yesterday though wondered whether if you keep the reciepts for the week and then put them all on the card at once whether they add up the amounts or do them separately.

so if I spend £1.99 for 5 days but only hand over my Clubcard on Friday will they put £9.95 worth of points on.

Have I successfully confused all members of the board here?
