~50 miles short for an award
 
I'd like to book a 20,000 mile award.

My current mileage balace in 19,943.

I your experience, how likely is the EC operator to look the other way on the shortfall?

Depends on your status with them, how you earned the miles etc...

Give them a call, sometimes they will be perfectly willing to help you out.
