Royal send off for Concorde?

Winter cleaning!

Who cares. Let them schlepp it on Ryanair for a change.

Merry Sep 30, 2003 8:27 am

As HM The Queen is Supreme Governor of the Church of England, I find that remark extremely offensive, not only to my monarch and head of state, but to my faith.

Perhaps you could schlepp over to another forum where your blasphemy will cause less offence.

oh for gods sake its only the queen - and the church in this country was marginalised years ago

Merry Sep 30, 2003 10:11 am

Now your at it "for gods sake", blasphamy everywhere I turn.

With an attitude like that it is no wonder we have lost Concorde. Get some back-bone man. It is the thin end of the wedge, I tell you.

Please accept my humble apology for mentioning the Queen in the same sentence as Ryanair.

Now, if only we could retire the monarchy at the same speed BA is retiring Concorde...

Inter alia, this book describes how the Queen really travels by air.

Who is this "we"? Unless you are an ex-pat living in Maine I don't see how the Monarchy could possibly affect you.

I for one am not part of this WE

Disco Volante Sep 30, 2003 11:55 am

Why would you want HM The Queen as your head of state when you could have George W.?

I for one do not. But I should be very annoyed if the public purse were to be used to pay for any farewell Concorde flights.

ScottC Sep 30, 2003 12:44 pm

I don't expect them to be announcing anything in advance "for security reasons"

Merry Sep 30, 2003 1:15 pm

Oh goody.. prepare to be annoyed.

Based on this, I hope for a 5-aircraft (i.e., all of them) flypast over Buckingham Palace, Hollyrood, Balmoral and Sandringham and BA to pay for Prince Charles' BAe146 -> Concorde conversion course (so he can do all the flying.).
