Are we going to see the first thread ever locked in the BA forum? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
I am quite surprised that no conspiracy theorists have put forward the notion that this whole retirement of Concorde is one huge marketing campaign to fill the plane up - and that come the second week in October (after which people can't get a refund on their tickets due to the new fare rules) that they will announce that they have found a way to keep it flying for another year etc.
The main reasons cited for withdrawal are falling ticket sales and increased maintenance costs. This retirement campaign seems to have solved the first problem. |
But take away the retirement carrot and all you'll be back to the booking levels of last year.

just read the article...didn't BA say that the final flight was a BA2 service arriving into LHR at 3pm on Oct 25?
|
24 October, I think. It sounds like that one is going to be full of invited guests because the news story I saw was saying that the last flight for commercial sale was going to be BA1 on 23 October.

Winter cleaning!

Would'nt anyone else like to know the true revenue numbers prior to the announcement and then post announcement including what hit was taken by overall miles used by passengers to gain access to this flight?
