Difference between NA and European membership?

Looking to change my address on my account and received a letter stating that there are big changes in the Executive Club between continents and that Europe was not the same as North America. I am a lowly Silver on BA but will be Executive Platinum by May on AA so my only concern is using the 50k miles still in my BA account. How big are the changes in using miles before the July 1 changes? Seems I can only change over once so want to make right choice.

I thought I had made Gold before but with the odd tier earning system I simply gave up and focused on AA instead. Make it difficult and people will fly less, take away benefits like what will happen in July and people will stop using the airline possibly altogether.

Oh boy. There's a 400+-post thread on this board you may want to settle down and read... the changes are enormous, and negative to most current accountholders.

This should read "the changes are enormous, and negative to most NAaccountholders"
A thought that more members are in the UK/EU schemes than the NA http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

p.s Bear is correct, read the 400+ posting.

YEs CT they are more negative for NA members. I really think you've made this point however it would seem that all the UK domestic cheerleaders you had are now gone.

Hfly, we have to have some posotive along with all the negative http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

We also forgot to mention to the orignal poster that if he opts for the EU rather than NA he will get and retain status with a lot less effort than in the NA.

Not so much concerned about status as I said previously, had to make tough choice and will go route of AA. Just want to burn miles but not sure if award levels are any differnt in EU than NA? Any award sales offered, for example? Right now, see best use of award between London and Switzerland for 10k while it lasts.

Excellent reward sale in place in Canada currently. Choose "Canada" as home country on BA.com for details. Basically, save 10k points for transatlantic WT travel to LHR and beyond. Good deal at 30k points for yyz/yvr/yul-europe, for example. Travel period ends soon.

Good luck!

Wondering if you move from NA to any other country and issue reward tickets after July 2003 are there better reward redemption opportunities.
