Change from UK to EU address
I get the impression that membership terms are much more advantageous for EU non UK members of the EC. Is this so ? If it is, is there anything to stop me advising BA of a change of permanent address to that of a family member in the EU who can act as a poste-restante address for me ? Will I thereby automatically benefit from the EU terms or must I take out a new membership and start again ?

There is absolutely no problem with this and your BA miles will transfer over to your 'new' address. You can only do this once every six months, however, and I'm sure they stop you if you keep swapping back and forth (although it doesn't sound like you plan to do this).
There are two things to think about: (1)losing the BA Amex card earning possibility, although this may be outweighed for you by easier Gold/Silver status, and (2) the bonus miles you get from flying Club (2x) and F (3x) in the UK, v much reduced levels in the EU programme (I think it's 1.25x and 1.5x but do a search on this topic)

Thanks LondonElite. As far as you know if I change in mid-year will maintaining status etc. take effect as though i have been at the overseas address right through the year ?
I.e. if I already have 500 points but wont fly again this year, this would not maintain Silver status here. Will it automatically maintain it if I change address now ? Hope this makes sense !

As I recall you keep your points transferred but your membership year resets, so you are effectively comped a year. If you had 400 points on Silver and were about to expire, you should land in the new scheme with 400 points and a whole year to get the extra 100.

Does anyone know where to get the definitive answer. BA never seem able to answer these sort of questions. What excatly does "comped" mean in this context ??

Where can one read the details/conditions of EC European membership?
I cannot find on the BA website. I have to decide between transfering points to QFFF or switching BAEC to a French address as EC is closing in Aus/NZ.

I asked this question via email a couple of weeks ago. Here, in full, is the response:
Your preferred mailing address determines the country in which your
membership is registered, the programme you join and hence the rewards
and opportunities open to you. If you move to a different country this
may constitute a change of scheme within the Executive Club Programme.
You can now change from a scheme in one country to another online at:
www.britishairways.com/mydetails
You will need to log-in using a PIN number, which you can order on the
same page if you don't already have one.
Once you have changed your address and selected your new country you
will be asked to confirm the change. When you have done so you will be
shown information and the terms and conditions of your new membership
scheme. To submit the change please accept the terms of the membership
by clicking the box at the bottom of the page. It will then take
approximately 48 hours for the overseas transfer to be processed.
Please note that a transfer will not affect your Miles and Points
balance and tier status including your membership year.
Thank you for contacting us.

Next time you have a question, simply go to http://www.ba.com/askba
I tried askba and couldn't find the answer. That's why I emailed! And what sort of name is Pinky? Sounds like Pucci.
So there we have it folks, allegedly definitive answers to your questions, in writing.
It will be a tradeoff which country you decide to use - yes, qualification levels are lower in Europe but you earn fewer miles in premium cabins and, according to the handbook, also earn on a smaller range of business fares (e.g. not I class) - but a larger range of economy fares.
Think carefully before choosing... or just join Qantas

Lux asked:
Indeed! At least Pucci has a certain chic je ne sais quoi ring to it ...
