Cristal and Ruinart BdB available today, which is excellent. I'll leave the rest of you your DP (which I just don't like much), LPGS (nice but significantly less nice than Cristal IMHO) and others and hope that this remains the offering in some of my forthcoming JFK visits!

Food was good too - Shrimp and grapefruit has become shrimp and orange, no lettuce this time but as bland as ever. On the other hand, the sirloin was excellent even though my requested rare had definitely become medium rare (but despite what the ill-intended amongst you would suggest, I am, in fact, a model of tolerance! ). "Chocolate decadence" is nice too if not aiming for subtlety...

I asked for Dom or Krug and was given Cristal 2014. I think it's significantly better than the current releases of Dom and Krug, so I'm a happy camper.

On the wider topic of how champagne offering works, I think it's a rational response to a finite budget and clientele of varying degrees of interest in champagne.
The Chelsea model seems to be "the more you show you're qualitatively aware of the difference between champagnes, the nicer champagne we'll dredge up for you":
Ask for "Champagne" (it's a region that makes 300 million bottles of wine a year, much of it industrial: that's a pretty vague request): get Moet ($40/bt)
Ask for the Wine/Champagne list, get Ruinart Blanc de Blancs ($80/bt)
Ask about their special champagne on the list: get LPGS or LP Rose ($100-150/bt)
Ask for Dom/Krug/Cristal by name: get one of those ($250+)

The alternative is everyone gets $60-70/bt champagne I guess. As someone who knows, likes and can tell the difference blind between Cristal, Dom & Krug (let alone Moet NV) I'm clearly a fan of the current setup versus the alternative, but I'm sure others will feel there's a egalitarian argument against which they agree with.

I'm sure many here will disagree, but I think the F&B offering in the Chelsea now (Steak restored, fab crabcakes, Dom/Krug/Cristal as champagne offerings) is the best in any airline lounge in the world. For context: the Champagne offering is playing in a different league to what LH/LX serve in their F lounges at FRA/MUC/ZRH and is even better than what's on offer in the SQ Private Room (Taittinger's lovely Comtes).

Am looking forward to trying Cristal or Krug in about 45 minutes once the LIRR and the Airtrain deliver me to security and then through.. and so far my flight still appears to be on the “right” kind of 777 🤞

Cristal is very lovely … does make me smile sometimes that BA is happy to pour me as many glasses of fizz at £40 per glass (retail) as I want, but won’t give me a cup of tea on a shorthaul in ET. But tonight the inconsistency is working in my favour 😀🥂

Sadly (for me) switched back to LPGS today (though apparently they still had some Cristal earlier today). Can't complain as it is very good but Cristal still is above it for my taste.

Flawless escorting to the front of a very, very long "priority" security queue, crab cake still very good and small enough that I can count it as an amuse bouche, they have grapefruit again for the shrimp (it was replaced by oranges on my last visit last week) and sirloin cooked perfectly rare for me - thinner - but also more tender than last week's iteration... I'd say that little by little, Chelsea seems to be finding its foot...

Was in the other day and they had Cristal. I don’t even drink alcohol but don’t think I ever had Cristal when I did. So I asked for half a glass and managed about 1 mouthful. Those not in the know were offered the entry level options on the menu. Grapefruit shrimp thing had one single sad little orange slice in it. Not impressed. Steak was way worse quality than the heyday last year when you got a really nice fat entrecôte. Was cooked correctly but presentation was weird and it had been left under heat lamp; mashed potatoes were cool and the exterior was a bit crusty from the heat lamp. Service was disinterested, which was weird because it was the same guy I had like 4 times last year and he was really cheerful then.

Was it LPGS #26? Someone asked me this upthread, and we've heard good things. I have two unopened bottles at home; waiting for some FT reviews first!

I'm ok with this if it guarantees availability (which appears to be the case, of late?)

Not sure if it was #26 as I didn’t take a close look at the bottle unfortunately.
