For club whilst its annoying I dont think middle seats are a bad option.
totally agree, though would argue the middle seats in old Club are a bad option. Quite often F is already full, especially when only 8 seats, a few weeks out.

I'm finding many people at work (large US corporate) are locking in and booking TATL trips months ahead this year. Previously everyone would book trips only weeks ahead, but with the ever increasing focus on expenses, tightening of travel policies, risk of internal travel restrictions, justifications for close dated un-planned trips it's simpler to just book a series of trips in January (and then save expenses by cancelling a trip)...

exactly, I really wish people would stop blaming double tier points on everything!! I seriously doubt it is significantly affecting anything

Travel patterns have changed.

Normally in late September I would be looking at business trips in late October / early November. not this year, october november was agreed months ago. We are already talking about trips in February and March next year.

Old Club World as a single traveller isn't the best.

I assume your predominantly finding this on the West Coast routes?

If that's the case, there are two options, which I use as I do get where you are coming from and it annoys me too...

1). Fly Virgin - who are status matching again
2). Fly to the East Coast or somewhere else with BA and connect with AA

I'm already working on my US trip for January. And it's very booked up and expensive. Normally do NYC > MIA > AUS > NYC. I might have to leave off MIA as the hotels and flight down are expensive and booked up. Nothing like Jan 2023. Hotels are almost 2x what I paid when I booked the same trip end of 2022.

More people are travelling and, frankly, more older people, who didn't travel through 2020 and 2021 (and some into 2022). When I was sitting in F lounge on Monday the majority in there were retired types. And they are the most likely to pre-pay for specific seats, too.
