Help! BA A380 First or Qatar Q Suite?!

Hello! Bit of advice/ opinion needed… have two options for a LHR>SIN flight next year, and there is only Ł125 difference between the two options with BA First the more expensive one.

Option 1 - BA A380 First direct from LHR to SIN

Option 2 - BA 777 Club (new Club suite) to DOH and then a Qatar Q Suite on the A350 from DOH to SIN. (Decent connection time in DOH).

There’s only Ł125 difference between the two so economically speaking, option 2 is better BUT is BA First worth it in comparison?

BA F by far the better option. Aside from the fact that it’s direct, the seat has much more space than a Q suite and the F&B and service should be comparable.

as well as running the risk that 1 or both legs of option 2 suffers an equipment change

For Ł125 definitely go for BA F straight through.

Unless you need the extra TPs from flying 4 sectors, BA in F definitely. QR is great apart from trying to get a full nights sleep.

BA First is one of the worlds best business classes. However a direct flight to SIN allows a decent nights sleep so would be the preferred option especially at such little extra cost.

When are you travelling as BA LHR-SIN changes to 777 with F suites for its winter schedule?

Good point. I’d still recommend the newer 77W suites over Q-suite for good night’s rest plus lack of the foot coffin.

100% Direct to SIN, on the few times I've done this in F - I've managed a real decent 7/8 hours sleep plus enjoyed the space and comfort of the A380. I'd even recommend this on 77W or 789 over Qatar Business with the broken journey.

It really is quite tiresome and pedestrian to roll out this old trope. It gives an entirely misleading impression to those who have not had the opportunity to experience BA F. Is it the world’s best F? No. Is it objectively better than any J product out there? Quite obviously. Is it priced so that it is far more accessible than most other F products? Generally yes: see the OP.

OP: as echoed above, go for BA F unless you are hunting for a few extra TPs.

Welcome to Flyertalk and the BA Forum LHR1993, and I hope you enjoy your flight when it comes

Personally I'd also take the direct flight and the few times I've been on BA F on the A380 it was very comfortable and the direct option would always be my default (unless you need the extra TP's) I've also done the via DOH with QR to SIN although it was in J and looking back although the flights were good I didn't particularly enjoy the stopover.

Has to be BA F.
Better seat/bed, quicker, less risk, less hassle.
Only downside might be less tier points.

I don’t find it an old trope at all, there is a legitimate argument these days as to whether QSuites, NH’s The Room and WY J are actually better than the older BA F cabins like-for-like (not A380 F, though). If I were faced with the choice of NH’s The Room and BA F on a 789 to Tokyo, for example, it would not be a straight forward choice to take BA F these days. Similar with Qsuites or BA old 777 F to DOH, I personally prefer Qsuites plus the QR T4 lounge even at the same price these days. BA F is explicitly not the same travel class as EK F, SQ F etc where we are comparing direct flights in my view, it is akin to the leading J products which offer comparable dine on demand, privacy and service but typically with a slightly smaller seating area. Clearly where the option is BA F direct or, say, a connection in Qsuites the decision is clearly easier in BA’s favour. There are those here who are so captured by BA and their status they cannot see the wood for the trees, of course.

To the OP, this is an easy choice - a direct flight in A380 F is massively preferable to one leg in BA CW and one leg in Qsuites.

BA F - the benefit of a direct flight on this route outweighs almost everything else; the flight is long enough that you can get a really solid sleep (even if you have a meal / watch a film after departure), whereas the QR route is 2 "short" long-haul flights which won't give you a proper rest. I think that outweighs everything else.

F on the A380 with BA is very comfortable for sleeping, which is key here. The F&B will be fine / good and you're quite unlikely on a Singapore flight to get a "bad" crew (it's one of the more popular routes for crew bidding, I think).

It depends what you value, for this trip to me the single greatest benefit of flying premium is the ability to get some proper rest ahead of dealing with the big 8-hour jet-lag (and whatever I have to do when I land in Asia: work/meetings). BA F direct all the way here.
