New A320neos being delivered without WiFi?

Just got off G-TTNU, a 6 month old A320neo but was disappointed there was no WiFi fitted to it.

I assumed it would be fitted as standard. Any idea whether this is a one off and/or when it will be fitted with WiFi?

The newer ones, with the big overhead lockers, don't arrive with wifi, but get it refitted at some point later on.

I have no specific insight but perhaps they are retrofitted when serviced by the airline and not factory installed? It's unlikely they will remain without WiFi for too long.

Indeed, because why would customers want wifi on brand new aircraft?

Also see the wifi thread:

As noted by c-w-s it seems the wifi is installed sometime after delivery.

I think it's quite likely that the specs required are not available from the factory. I don't think it's unreasonable that it's fitted after the event as long as the gap after it's been introduced into service isn't too large.

You mean lowest possible cost, presumably?

We were on TTNS the other day, also without Wi-Fi but despite that the crew made the usual announcements about it being available and how to access which prompted lots of questions from passengers attempting to use it - obviously there's not even an SSID if its not fitted - to the point they went and asked the flight deck who assured us WiFi was installed and working perfectly but the patchy reception was why no one could connect...

On an unrelated note, I recall pictures from when NS was delivered by the Twitter pilot at the controls and many were relieved to see the existence of a cabin divider... That's no longer there.

The neos are also still waiting for their middle seat tables to be fitted in the CE section. Do the ones with the bigger overheads have the divider curtain yet?
