Possible live help - CX'd BA227 - trying to get spouse on something
So they just Cancelled 227 (LHR-ATL)
Spouse is supposed to fly tonight - she is only a Blue so not much status. Can anyone see options to get her to ATL tonight? She is lined up at BA CS desk airside at T5.

EF shows a possibility of the 16.55 flight to CLT and onwards to ATL. However, that's not long to get ticketed and over to T3
May be slim pickings though with this number of pax.
Decision will likely be stay in London tonight and fly tomorrow, or get somewhere East Coast and stay there overnight.

Thanks all - she is waiting in the queue and trying the CS number. I have given her these options to ask for.
I don't want to go down the route of purchasing her own ticket because it will cost a fortune at this stage. I have prepared her for the hotel overnight although haven't booked anything yet.

So - before she hits a wall - we all know that BA should rebook on UA, Delta, etc if can't get her there on a OW carrier.
What exactly is the terminology she should tell CS if they 'refuse' that option? And is it within her rights to have another carrier tonight over a OW option tomorrow?

Politely remind them that under her UK/EU 261 rights and also IATA 735d it is the responsibility of the original carrier to rebook via an agreeable alternate route requested or agreed by the passenger, as long as fares/seats remain available on those alternatives. Then ask the staff for a copy of her rights as it is a legal requirement for BA to produce them when requested by the traveller.

I personally would not advise using EC261 lingo here, it's unlikely to get a helpful atmosphere.

You folks are very, very helpful - as always. I am passing these notes onto her
As she wasn't on the plane, how does she find out where to collect her bag from as I assume it has now been offloaded (not that it probably ever got on the aircraft).

If it's still in the warehouse then the desk can redirect it as needed. If it's already on the carousel, the agent can see that and tell her to collect from there. You will see the obvious timing issue here.

Yes, she has clocked that a 1715 rep is pretty well impossible at this point. I'm thinking a late flight to JFK tonight.
