Earning on Aer Lingus A Class
Hello!
Just asking as I think I have been given incorrect info by BA Executive Club...
I have a short hop from NQY-DUB in a couple of days time. The EI flight is booked in A class. I think that is zero earning in Executive Club - however when on the phone to BA earlier to query something else I asked to double check this and was told A class on EI would earn - but they couldn't say how much. Was this incorrect?

A class is not listed as an eligible Avios earning class when flying EI:

To be honest, asking orally about something you can check in writing is the surest path to confusion!!
The baec pages are normally correct, best stick to them.

Rather helpfully, Aer Lingus doesn't tell you the fare class you'll get booked into. Seems like the cheapest HBO fares for short hops are all A class.
For the sake of 75 odd Avios it's neither here nor there, but the total lack of integration - despite EI being a sister IAG company - rather rankles.
The stupidly complex rules as to whether BAEC members get lounge access on EI flights also don't exactly help.

When you get to this page in the booking flow (it's the one immediately after you've selected your flights), scroll to the bottom where it says "About your fare" and click "Fare Rules" like so -

Once you click that, a pop up appears, and in there, scroll right to the bottom and you will see this -

The very first letter in the Fare Basis Codes are the ones for the flights you have selected - in the above, G class out and A class return.
Hope this helps!

British Airways Gold and Silver frequent flyers departing from London Heathrow on Aer Lingus operated services have access to the Aer Lingus lounge at Heathrow T2 on all flights to Ireland.
Simple!

Flying from BHD to various other UK destinations that EI serves, I think you get lounge access if you're booked under a BA codeshare flight number, on a BA-issued ticket. But not if travelling from e.g. MAN, since BA doesn't have a lounge there anymore.
It's a complete mess. The very fact that the first result to "aer lingus lounge access ba gold" in Google (and the only one that actually addresses the question) is Head for Points - rather than Aer Lingus, or BA - speaks volumes.

Where's that documented...? It's not on the Oneworld lounge finder site. Go to the page on the Aer Lingus site about lounge access, and there's no mention of the BA Gold LHR/LGW/DUB exception to the rule.

Never has been, so you're right there... doesn't make it a complete mess

Think of it as a secret benefit... though, with BA having almost no lounges of their own anymore after the big lounge closure fun of Covid, the BA Gold benefit on a BA codeshare is pretty useless these days. No BHD lounge anymore, no MAN, no NCL, no AMS...
