BA7 delayed. Options for award domestic onward flight?

Hi,

Wife and child are on BA7 Heathrow to Haneda which is currently delayed. Due now to arrive in Haneda at 0835 tomorrow at Haneda (if all goes well) which leaves it a bit tight for the avios award flight I booked them on JAL to fly to FUK which departs at 10:10
Given that we are now inside the 24 hour window, any chance BA will let me move them to a later flight provided theres award availability?

Thanks in advance for any useful advice!

Is the JAL avios flight separate to the BA flight?
Can you see JAL award availability?
An option is to cancel avios award and pay cash HND-FUK on the any flight.
Depending on the reason for the delay and delay time BA261 may apply. Could be a profit.

Thanks. Yes its a separate booking as we used 241 from LHR-HND.
Would BA261 apply on an 85 minute delay? How can I find out the reason?

Technically the booking is now non-changeable as you know. The only option is to phone BA and plead your case for leniency. They have no obligation to change the booking. No EC261.

If the flight does indeed arrive around 0835 then there is a good chance they will make it. Bags usually delivered fast at HND and you can get a shuttle bus/train to the domestic terminal. Checkin for domestic flights in Japan when you have baggage closes around 30 mins before departure I believe. Ultimately depends on the immigration queue.

For those who have not memorised the worlds airport codes, FUK (no giggling in the back row, please) is the airport code for Fukuoka airport in Kyushu, Japan.

The delay to 007 today is due mandatory engineering work.

It finally took off at 12:03. They are now looking at 09:12 arrival. They are both Japanese passport holders. So, immigration won't be an issue but I think it will be a tall order for them to get the 10:10 JL313 flight!

I'm thinking to see how the flight progresses and then try to maybe book an ANA flight later with VS miles or a cash flight on an LCC before midnight UK time. There is no avios availability anymore.

People who are in the know. Do you think there is any chance that if they turn up at the domestic desk JAL might put them on the next flight?

Apparently, the Captain said that it was due to problems with the undercarriage and they will have to fly with some of the undercarriage not folded in. So, the flight might be a bit noisy
