Smile British Airways improve in flight catering [KFC loaded as meal]

See below: https://www.standard.co.uk/news/worl...-b1096798.html

BA passengers on 12-hour flight to London Heathrow served KFC from buckets in catering gaffe

Passengers on a 12-hour British Airways flight to London were left dismayed when they were served KFC following a catering mishap.

The plane had been taking passengers from Turks and Caicos to Heathrow, via the Bahamas, when unforeseen circumstances meant the flights normal meal service was unavailable.
Passengers were reportedly told an issue with the planes refrigeration system meant the food overheated and was unsafe.

When the plane stopped at Bahamian capital Nassau, quick-thinking staff instead bought fried chicken from a KFC fast food restaurant at the airport.

yes, that is why I didn't put the improve in "" as I feel it was a genuine improvement.
On the serious side some other news organisations do report that everyone got one chicken leg. so probably wasn't substantial for the next 8 hours flight.

BA taking a leaf out of the Ryanair handbook.

A spokesperson said: Our teams sprung into action and made sure our customers had something to eat. We apologise to customers that their full meal service was not available and we had to wing it on this occasion. Were sorry if we ruffled any feathers.

This was only served in economy, WTP and Club. Passengers in First went hungry because the CSD had read the classic FT thread on the etiquette of bringing fast food into First.

Delta used to regularly get pizza delivered to the airport when a flight was significantly delayed. I guess just be glad it wasn't Taco Bell.

We flew from NAS to LHR in January 22, in CW. We were just about to board, when we had to stand on the air bridge for nearly an hour for no apparent reason until they told us that they were short of meals and some passengers regrettably would have to wait until Heathrow before they could be fed.

Well, if BA could now upgrade to Popeye's fried chicken, we just might witness a Cajun-style culinary event on board....

No win situation for BA.
They could have cancelled the flight, they could have flown without flood or they could improvise.
Given the choices, in my view they made a good call improvising with KFC.

From the Telegraph.

Passengers in both the economy and business cabins were given chicken legs with around eight hours and twenty minutes of the flight remaining. The flight was also an hour late following the stopover.
