Dear Forum Members,
I recently had a disappointing experience while flying in Club Europe (Business) on a British Airways flight from Rotterdam to London City Airport. Despite pre-ordering a kosher meal, it was not loaded onto the flight, leaving me without suitable food options during the journey. I kindly request your advice on the reasonable compensation I can expect from British Airways for this inconvenience.
If any of you have encountered similar issues with special meal requests in Club Europe at London City Airport, I would greatly appreciate hearing about your experiences.
Thank you for your time and assistance. Your input will be invaluable in determining the appropriate course of action with British Airways.

Welcome to FlyerTalk.
If you complain you will probably receive a few Avios but lets not forget that this flight is one of the shorter ones in the BA network and as such I cant decide whether youre being entirely serious?

It baffles me that people accept shortfalls in service like this and try to justify it. You wouldn't accept it anywhere else!

Life is too short to make a big deal out of this. If it was a longer CE or transatlantic flight then it would be a different story. I agree that service standards fell short but personally I wouldnt bother pursuing this. If the OP wishes to complain then use the web form and get ready to receive 5000 Avios or something like that.

My father was taking a flight many many years ago. As the meal service started a FA got onto the PA and said " Will the Jew who ordered the kosher meal please ring their call button". He said no one answered.
I think times have changed.

It's business class - you are right to expect this fairly simple request - it shouldn't be an issue. I would drop them formal feedback on the principle, less so to get something in return (though you may). There should be some sort of system in place to prevent it from happening again.

Unfortunately for this sort of situation (and many others) there is still some way to go with some people in the world before we completely eliminate prejudice and discrimination.

Someone is making a post about how amazing BA staff were during their flight, everyone agrees and shares some very good stories about BA. Someone is making a post regarding their experience with BA and what is the compensation regarding service not delivered. One of the ambassadors is wondering if they are serious. Right

Op, unfortunately it happens that spml aren’t loaded (it has happened to me multiple times, or sometimes variations thereof such as the tray being there... but not the food that should go on it, especially main course!) and you are absolutely right that you should send a brief complaint to customer service using the web form.
i don’t think the flight length means this shouldn’t be compensated and there is certainly no need to send receipt or prove anything. You purchased something Ba committed to provide including in the form of spml if you needed it and they didn’t. That’s what matters.
You are entitled to some compensation (that will likely be avios). Having said that I don’t really see the point of asking in advance what it should be, just write, explain briefly the situation and that you were unable to eat onboard as a result and see what you get. It’s not as though you were going to specify an amount in your complaint anyway (you literally need no more than 3 sentences here) and it may vary based on your ticket, profile, etc.

The special meal would either not have been loaded at LCY (they are not replenished in RTM) or was handed out in error on the outbound service. It is indeed a particularly short flight, 191 miles, though not quite as short as LHR-JER (175 miles) but still I think it's important to raise a complaint, it's part of the advertised product, and in the case of Kosher it may there is nothing else to eat on board. It wouldn't exactly be unknown to have a 3 hour delay on the service either. Moreover it would be reasonable for someone planning their day to go from say a meeting in RTM to another in the City and want to use the time to eat, in order to time-fill their day, given that the OP can't just eat at every catering venue en route. But yes, it's difficult to make an existential complaint out of this, compared to LHR-HND......
I'm actually surprised how infrequently this happens - it does, but mostly the special meals do work through from the LON end. Out-stations can vary.

Anyone is entitled to order a Kosher or Halal, Veg, Asian Veg, Vegan meal. So why would it necessarily be a Jewish person? I know a lot of Muslims who will order Kosher meals (as it is permissible for them).

I generally order the vegan meal and a number of times over the last couple of years, it has not been loaded. I'm technically a flexitarian, so not a huge deal.
I have received between 8,000 - 10,000 points in each case (as a Silver and now a Gold).
