Sean Doyle interviewed in the Times

"Sean Doyle wants British humour and an army of techies to make the brand beautiful again. First he has to survive the next two months"

Apologies for not finding the thread, of course it's behind a paywall, too many gins listening to the Ashes. Feel free to move.

For those of us who don't have access to The Times, what is the gist of the interview? Any new information about future changes?

This article is quite the character assassination of Alex Cruz (not that it isn’t at least partially deserved)…

At least he is aware of how BA was run into the ground by AC, and that is a perception shared by many.

hopefully the launch of a new website/app, can steer the ship somewhat around (as long as its hosted on the cloud, and no through BAs patchwork systems)

I was also pleased to see the A380s are going to be refitted with Club Suite.

That's going to be some investment, which means they will be around for quite some time to come.

"Sean knows he inherited a house that was falling down and needs rebuilding from the foundations”

Excellent description of BA, its been obvious for years.

This is crucial to BA because, while it will never be able to afford the bars and showers aboard the planes of its deep-pocketed Gulf competitors, such as Emirates, it should be able to use British humour and style to outgun them. Oh well, cleaning the planes properly would be a good start before British humour and style..

"Sense of humour" required has quite the double meaning IMHO.
BA have "hired 10,000 people". That's a lot of freshers and newbies, going to take an age to bed in. BTW the implied criticism of Alex Cruz is also surely a dig at Willie Walsh who hired him as the "continuity cost cutter."

Fingers crossed some of the lounges that should never have been closed come back as well.

"Hundreds of millions of pounds will be spent refitting BAs 12 A380 double-decker superjumbos"

Interesting. I've brought this up a few times on this board and each time was told this isn't going to happen. I was told in March the first A380 was due to go in for refurbishment and will get the 'new F'. Each time I brought this up, I was told this wasn't going to happen.
