11 & 12 Jun : weather (thunderstorm) delays to BA services
Currently sat on BA767 at OSL unable to leave due to the impending thunderstorm in London so there is an air traffic ban? Word is it’s an 1.5 hour delay thus far although we are ready to leave.
anyone else delayed?
at least the Y “snack” (see recent thread!) has started whilst on the ground!
the Norwegian service to my right heading for LGW hasn’t moved yet either.

All departures would have paused, so there will be a lot of people waiting to go. There have been some departures since. The flight from Prague has gone to Stansted, for now, after it’s go around. That was one of 3 go arounds in a row, I had a peek at flight radar when the storm started.

At least 6 BA diversions so far, BA655 from Corfu to STN, BA929 from Tirana to STN, BA863 from Prague to STN (looks to have gone around at LHR), BA1487 from Glasgow to BHX, BA1489 from Glasgow to LTN, BA1453 from Edinburgh to LTN.

The Storm swept across Heathrow for about 30-40 mins. Multiple Lightening strikes nearby, watching some go-arounds from GF. Flying to GLA shortly but the assigned aircraft is still sat in NCL, suspect the 30 mins delay will increase. Multiple flights after ours cancelled, waiting with bated breath!

Sitting on the tarmac at LHR on BA440 to AMS, which should have departed at 16:05. We lost power just before push back due to a suspected lightning strike and are now having to undergo a full engineering check to confirm if the plane is currently airworthy - of course there's only one engineer available, so I assume we're in for a lengthy delay!

Moving westwards, so at its peak over London about an hour or so ago.
Proper ScoobyDoo-style thunder, lightning and battering rain.
