Pilot rest seats on 777

On my flights BA2204 and 2205 (Gatwick 777's) quite often I see 4K blocked and presume this is as a pilot rest seat - and this was mentioned to me by the CC on my last flight. This was the case on my next flight but it's now become available (30 hours to take-off). I'd prefer this seat to my original choice but don't want to take it if there's a strong risk of it being taken away from me at the airport as it should be a pilot rest seat.

No don't take it!!!

Those flights are PUJ, for those who have not memorised the entire timetable, and they do require a pattern of pilot rest given the time and distance. 4K is the only practical option. The CW cabin is quite small on these LGW services. This is blocked in Amadeus Seating, but when it moves to FLY a human is needed to intercept Theoretical Seating and block it out again. So if you take it, you will 101% be turfed out of it at some point before boarding. I know this is a regular route for you so I'm surprised you haven't seen the captain and/or FO switch at various points in the flight.

It could be that the aircraft has the flight crew rest area fitted, I wouldn’t move as the aircraft could be changed.

Thank you both for responding so quickly, you're two of my favourite people on FT.

CIHY I don't think there's any chance of BA changing our planes as the PUJ flights are the nasty densified 777's, and all BA's other planes are too nice for us. And thanks CWS, I've changed back to my original choice and will make sure my skirt is long enough to avoid flashing my knickers when trying to jump over someone else's bed in the dark. In 2049 we are due to get Club Suites so it won't be an issue then.

Your Under Armour sweatpants may be more practical, but I best steer clear of fashion tips.

What I think CIHY is suggesting is whether your flight is being operated by a RR powered 777, which do have the crew rest versus the GE Powered ones which don't. Both have densified versions that operate out of LGW although the RR powered aircraft have 4 less WTP seats.

The best advice for ladies of a certain age on long-haul flights is a loose skirt as this enables us to put on flight socks.

Thanks that's helpful information. Are the RR ones the ones with the bunked area for the crew rest above the front galley? I've noticed that version a few times on my route.

According to FR24 the flight will be operated by G-YMMA which I think has the RR engines.

So I guess that 4K will in fact be available as a regular seat, provided that they don't change the aircraft.
