I'm guessing just maintenance, but whispers from the galley said they are going to make all UD Club Suites, and then lower deck, F, WT+ and WT. Can't move (a new) F up due to the weight of the seats and BA not reinforcing floors, so at some point they will be going in for that.

regarding this specific route, the long downtime in JNB means that it can leave very late and still make its return journey.

I think its still my favourite of BA's planes to fly on, and as long as i get a window club world seat that reclines, id be happy not to see club suite

More A380 woes today.
G-XLEG operating BA207 (LHR-MIA) pushed back around 15 minutes late, then sat on the taxiway for around 35-40 minutes before parking back up on stand at around 11:00. Been sat on board ever since.
Crew now serving meals.
They clearly don't want to cancel the flight.

Just following up on BA207 (LHR-MIA) on 2nd December operated by G-XLEG. Eventually departed 7 hours late. Cause of delay was apparently a faulty valve in the air conditioning system which they eventually replaced.

Wow, 7 hours.

Ive got 4x 380 sectors later this month. Hopefully they hold up for us all this holiday season!

(Couldnt give two cans about being delayed on work trips anymore, Ive learned to just work around it when it happens!).

reason for cancellations

Anyone know the reason for the two cancellations in a week of the BA207? 7th and 14th November.

Quite. We were on board for the entire 7 hours of ground delay as well - spent over 16 hours on board in total.

Yikes! You could have gone halfway around the world in that time. The worst thing for me would have been exactly the same view out of the window for hours on end.

I wonder if BA are contemplating picking up a cheap second hand A380? This would add much needed resiliency to the fleet.
It would also enable the rumoured cabin refreshes to be done without reducing services.

Having said that I have done 8 A380 sectors in the last 12 months and theyve all been on-time.

That is remarkable. I have never travelled on an A380 sector with BA that has arrived even close to the scheduled arrival time.

Angry BA206 cancelled again.

The BA206 (MIA-LHR) has been cancelled in Miami yet again on December 21st 2023, just wonderful days before Christmas. "operational issues"??

XLEA which should have flown that sector appears to be allocated to DFW now on 21/12.

Only a few days ago DFW had a cancellation (17/12) and XLEE got re-allocated to SFO. It very much appears that they are a 380 or two short for the schedule

XLEB has just gone to Manila (regular maintenance presumably)
XLED and XLEK are nowhere to be seen??

So I assume any delays with the rest of them has a knock-on effect..

Cannot wait for the barrage of A380 delays and cancellations Im likely to experience over the next 2 weeks
