1-650 mile Avios redemptions increased by 5 to 70?
Last month I booked an Off-Peak BA Avios redemption falling into the 1-650 mile band. Based on the standard value of 1p/Avios, the 17.50 RFS option worked out cheapest, at 4,750 Avios + 17.50 = 65 equivalent.
However, a similar redemption is now showing as costing an extra 500 Avios, i.e. increasing by 5 to 70 equivalent:

Am I missing something, or has there been a stealth price increase here?
I can't recall reading about this on any of the usual sources (HFP, TLFL etc.) so perhaps this is yet another IT glitch... OTOH I wouldn't be surprised if it's BA's latest "enhancement".

In the ANU-SKB thread I thought the rate had changed. It should be pointed out that we've going through 2 years or so with inflation having a cumulative impact of about 22%, compared to about 6% for much of recent economic history, and it's unrealistic to imagine one's Avios' savings would be inflation-proofed forever.

If you look for the flight on avios.com it shows as being a peak date and that pricing does seem to align with peak dates. The cash elements of all the other avios price points apart from 50p seem to be slightly higher though on avios.com e.g 5250 avios + 20.50, instead of 17.50 via BA Exec Club.
