BA 108 [DXB - LHR] 18 Mar, delayed
Just got this text from BA services:
BA108 - We're sorry for the delay to your flight today. Your new estimated departure time is 17:25 local time. Check in for your flight will now close at 16:25. Please check ba.com/travel/flightstatus for further Info. Thanks for bearing with us. British Airways
Apart from EC261, given they have said check in is open until 1625, am I safe to turn up to the airport later than original flight time which was 1325?

As no-one has answered the original question, I'd venture a quick one. If they've told you the time is pushed back including the checkout close, you can arrive later. You can't rely on estimated delays alone as they do move in and out, but that was a clear piece of actionable information.
Often in these cases the inbound is late (track it) or there's a crew hours issue knocking on from a previous delay.

It's an empty shuttle out to Dubai to pick up stranded passengers I think.

Your aircraft is operating the 109 tonight and that aircraft will be sat at DXB waiting for the crew that operated 9115 to achieve their rest and get back to the airport. Hence your BA 108 of the 19th is delayed.
The airframe that came out as 9115 will become BA1108, this is the recovery flight for the cancelled BA108 of the 18th. The crew operating 1108 should have been operating the cancelled 108 of the 18th, so they’ve had an additional 20 odd hours in DXB. Their departure is ahead of yours.

So I assume that if this all stems from the cancelled BA 108 on the 18th, then EC261 should apply here? From the snowball effect.
