Missing Luggage, but not mine.
Flew to Malaga yesterday, and today received a text and email from a complete stranger that his friend's baggage was sent to Malaga, rather than Delhi, under my name and details. The friend is in Delhi, and the sender is trying to send the luggage to Delhi. I have not responded or had any contact about his from BA or Swissport. Because the sender has my telephone number and email he sent me the messages to warn me of what has happened if I was contacted by Swissport. Who do I contact at BA. A complete stranger seems to have my private details, because BA seem to has blundered with the suitcase for Delhi. I have not responded to the messages. Any thoughts.
Thanks

Hi GWH,
What a wonderfully small world.
To allay your fears, it was actually me who sent you the text message & the email.
Happy to discuss over PM if that suits, or by all means you've got my number!

I'm wondering if this opposite of what has happened to my mother. She arrived yesterday to EWR and her two checked bags did not make it. She went to the BA person at EWR baggage claim who took her information and then gave her the top half of the form with basically no information. She does NOT have a 10 digit lost baggage number as they said they would text that to her. Of course, 12+ hours later and no text message.
So, if anyone has a text from BA about two missing bags from MAA to EWR, please do let me know!

So for clarity, close friends of mine went off on Honeymoon to India yesterday. My wedding gift was their flights, so I have all their PNR data - and being a little more au faux with all things BA, I became quite invaluable when (at 3am Delhi time), BA announced their bag had not made it.
My friends went to the BA desk at DEL to be told there was no BA representative (a lie considering the outbound was boarding), so instead were assisted by a more general DEL airport member of staff.
That person provided them with a Lost Baggage form, as well as checking the Baggage Tags. So far no issues, but one of the baggage tags revealed the issue.
They flew out with two bags, and while one had the correct data on, the other had the details of another passenger (in this instance also an FTer!). The desk agent entered the PNR on the baggage tag, explained their assumption as to what would have happened, and my friends duly sent me the relevant information for me to try and resolve the issue.
GGL have escalated the issue and spoke to the Premium Baggage team this morning, but it's a waiting game. Fortunately there is an Air-Tag in the bag, so we know where the suitcase is - albeit BA & Swissport (who manage BA ops at AGP) do not!
I presumed BA or Swissport would reach out to the OP, as their name is on the piece of baggage sat somewhere at AGP, but evidently that has not happened yet.

MSM 2000 uk Has sent me, the original poster of the thread a private PM extremely speedily, and explained the situation and I am satisfied with his response. He is in contact with BA over the matter, and at the moment will leave it with him. He is more aware of the details than I am and has contacted the GGL line. I would still like a response from BA over the matter about private details being divulged, though acidentally.

Email [email protected] for a starter might be worth contacting. Perhaps the ICO too.

I assume I am missing something here. Given we all use our own ‘Handles’ on here for our names, how on Earth did @msm2000uk work out that it was the OP they were after??

The OP and I have spoken by phone, and fingers crossed Swissport & BA resolve this quickly.

Even though there was no ill intent, I find it incredible that BA (or its representative) would give enough of a passenger's personal details to a complete stranger to enable that stranger to contact the passenger.
