Summer 2023 : Some BA Euroflyer LGW services to be operated by Avion Express

It is reported on www.jethroseu.co.uk that 3 x A320 are to be leased for the summer based at LGW. Believed to be related to more maintenance/MRO supply chain issues.

the service will be the same as you get on BA, the crew's uniform and aircraft decor will be a little different

This should trigger the standard customer guidelines for leased aircraft.

They basically allow moving to the closest BA flight before or after.

However may need some prompting of call centre agents as awareness of these guidelines does not seem the highest.

Sometimes BA publishes specific guidelines for each round of this.

Are these going to be confined to particular routes or could they pop up anywhere?

IIRC last year the LGW summer leases (Iberia Express I think) only operated certain routes - Malta being one of them.

I would surprised if there wasnt. My guess
would be no curtain/divider, no console table on the B&F seat and possibly no antimacassar, as there is unlikely to be the velcro strip to hold it. But otherwise as per normal BA in terms of catering etc.

BA2624 to Nice on Sunday 14th is now Avion too. I've got an exit row seat which is still showing on BA. Chances they have the same configuration and keep me in that seat? Both A320s as far as I can see...

Pictures I've found online (e.g. on Avion's Instagram) show antimacassars in place, but no evidence of a cabin divider.

You may end up on a NEO from LHR, which also has no cabin divider or console tables.

Interesting - my LGW-PFO in June literally just changed in MMB to 'Avion Express for BA Euroflyer' and there are now Row 1 seats both sides.

By the way, I've noticed that Change/View Seats has disappeared within MMB Desktop for my Euroflyer flights whether on the new interface or the old one and the only way to view/change is within the app or is this buried somewhere else on the Desktop view? Also and for some reason, when the above change was made 10 mins ago, we were switched from AC to CD but in the same row so we were both in aisle seats. Very odd but since rectified within the app...

My LGW-PFO just got switched to Avion Express. Planespotters says the average age of the Avion Express 320s is 15.6 years - that's 25% younger than the BA frames I flew on last week!

Not only the seat option but also assistance can no longer be viewed or changed. Instead, there is just a link to the page with all the various telephone numbers. Not very helpful! Oddly while I could see my seat allocation on the app, but not on the website, I was unable to change it. Gremlins?

I recall flying BA from Heathrow to Scotland a few years back on a leased aircraft and crew (I think it was a Scandinavia based carrier) and how the crews very successfully served a full hot breakfast and 2 rounds of tea and coffee with time to spare. The crews must have asked why BA offered everyone a hot breakfast on a 55 min flight! Well done to them, though.
