Can't use e-voucher on hotel anymore?

Hi everyone,

Just been told by call centre that you can no longer use your vouchers to book a hotel - is this the case or is the agent mis-informed? (for context I am a GGL).

Cheers,

Not aware anything has changed - albeit does a hotel booking count as a normal BAH booking?

The usual process for BAH bookings was to make the booking, then email the BAH team (not GGL) who would then reduce the balance due by the cash value of the voucher.

I did one the other day.

Made hotel only booking, paid in full then emailed BAH and asked them to apply the voucher - they refund them now.

replied to my email almost immediately.

Im confused, you paid for the hotel only in full via BAH, however you then reached out to retro actively apply eVoucher(s) are you were then refunded back to your payment card?

Yes. I was originally going to book a BAH and they told me you now have to pay the deposit / or full amount if its within the 7 weeks or 4 weeks and they then refund the original voucher to the OFP.

This is interesting, I assumed that if making a BAH booking T-7 weeks you couldnt apply an eVoucher. Im aware the balance has to be paid in full by then, and they cant take eVouchers as payment at the time of booking, however I wasnt aware they were happy to refund back to the original payment card if looking to apply eVouchers to a booking inside of 7 weeks. Likewise I did not know you can apply an eVoucher to a hotel only booking.

This a manual process so you either email [email protected] or call the contact centre to make the booking and the voucher details are sent to BAH.

I dont believe you can call to apply eVouchers, hence why you cant apply the voucher at time of booking. My interest lays in wether or not they refund to the original payment card when booking at short notice, whereby the full balance needs to be paid, however then manually applying eVouchers against the booking.

You can call to do this, we would book the package but you must pay the deposit or in full. We then complete a form with the voucher details that is sent to BAH to apply the voucher to the package and lower the balance or refund you.

Perfect, I always knew a deposit had to be paid, and the process re. emailing in for the eVouchers to be manually applied to the remaining balance, however I was not aware the balance could be paid in full at time of booking (if T-7 weeks before travel) and then latterly refunded upon providing eVouchers.

Any recent data points for redeeming eVouchers against BAH?

Ah thats not good, was this recently, and did they simply collect your eVoucher details via email and responded that they are being refunded?

I spoke to someone yesterday about cancelling a booking originally made with an evoucher that's had a flight change and was told I would be getting cash back onto my card rather than another evoucher. Apparently BA don't want the agro with them anymore and it's more efficient to convert them to cash.
