22 & 23 Jan : disruption : fog delays at LHR

Quite a few delays now at LHR with most BA flights awaiting clearance due to the weather. Be patient today if you are travelling. Stay warm.

Thanks for the heads up.

It was certainly very foggy at ground level as I walked down the Great South West Road an hour or so ago. But it seemed at that time to be fairly low-lying - flights were taking off eastbound on the Southern runway, and by the time they were over the Atrium hotel they seemed to be in clearer air.

I’ll be in T5 shortly, so will provide an update.

Yikes! Good to know. I fly back to Heathrow, sure to land at 8:40ish, hopefully it's all clear by then...

Good to know. I am flying BA8 on the 23rd and it's getting further and further delayed due to late incoming aircraft out of LHR, but I had no idea why the incoming flight is still stuck on the ground.

IIRC late inbound aircraft is never exempt from EU261 comp as they could get a plane to you from elsewhere. If same precedent applies for the UK equivalent law I'm getting pretty close to compensation at this point.

Just when you begin to think the fog is dispersing , it thickens up…

Waiting for the BA1390 to MAN to depart but its status has been stuck at estimated departure of 11:15am. I wish BA would decide if it’s going to be cancelled or not asap so I can get the train down instead.

I think it’s boarded now so it shouldn’t be cancelled - or it would be very unusual to do so.

Thanks to Prospero for their photos upthread. The fog does seem to be coming in waves: this was the view from the Hilton Garden Inn - the first photo one hour ago at 10:52, the second 15 minutes ago at 11:37….

According to Heathrow and Flight Board apps, BA1420 to BHD has been cancelled...should I have heard something from BA?
