Oh joy … takes me back to my days at LATCC (London Air Traffic Control Centre) in the 70s.

However, it shows UK doesn’t have a monopoly on disruption! 😀

Forgive me UncleT but what is LATCC? I googled it but it came back with Los Angeles Technical Trade College!

Secondly, going back on topic Heathrow Tower (or ATC Staff, Pilot Staffers, KARFA etc) what does all that mean in lay person speak? (Sorry, I just don't get all those acronyms as much as i try to understand!)

Thanks in advance

I was afraid that this might happen. France
is preparing for a general strike over Pension Reforms.

If this continues the next week on 26 it will be
for 48 hours and a week later for 96 hours unless the Government backs down. I would not be surprised if this affects Control Towers at airports. These are not confirmed as yet in any detail but 19th will happen in all probability. Sorry to bring glum tidings.

The former London Air Traffic Control Centre at West Drayton, near LHR.

Basically, there's a minimum service at the major airports, but they need to wait to see how many turn up/go on strike until impact can be judged.

How, if at all, could this impact on flights that do not traverse France, e.g LHR to NL, Germany, Austria?

The airspace around France will become more congested than usual because of aircraft needing to avoid the French airspace, and there are limits on how many can divert around. There's usually been a lovely line of aircraft doing the tango through the Bay of Biscay on previous ATC strike days.
