BA Planned 787-10 Routes for 2023

I know BA have had some issues with the deliveries of their 787-10's, however they've only really been used on SEA, DEN, PDX and IAD routes occasionally..

Does anyone have any up to date info on their planned routes for 2023?

Planning a trip in June to the USA and it would be be nice to experience the new F product.

Thanks!

When I came back from YUL last month, it changed from a 788 to a 78X very last minute. There were some rumours this was a last minute change for the COP summit but hardly anyone came off the plane?

Might have been just a last minute plane availability change or maybe something else?

I can give you the current schedule for May'23 as per EF (June onwards seems to get a bit muddled, so will need to do more research):

LHR - SEA x 2 B781 in May on most days
LHR - DFW x 1 B781 in May
LHR - BOS x 1 B781 in May on most days
LHR - IAH x 1 B781 in May

I'll keep looking for other locations they may be sent too.

The 781 was one of the daily rotations to ORD paired with a 380 earlier in the year which made for a comfortable ride home.

Personally my favorite jet in the fleet being a 787 fanboy and having club suites.

BA took delivery of their 5th 787-10 on 30th December - G-ZBLG, so barring tech issues or maintenance these should be flying daily now.

I was on the 296 in August it was a 781, am on the 295 in May, its showing as a 789. Am hoping it changes to a 781 again. Likewise am on the 48 next month thats currrently a 781. I am surprised given a 789 is on one of the LAX rotations that a 781 isnt dispatched on that route given its a premium heavy route

I wouldnt say the 781 is a premium heavy aircraft though. It has just 2 additional non-economy seats over the 789 with around 40 more economy seats.

BA's 787-10s don't feature crew bunks (flight crews do have them, I seem to remember) and thus there's a limit to the length of a journey they can fly on as routes beyond a certain duration require crew to have "horizontal rest". Those who know best, like MFCC or others, will fact-check me but I seem to recall that SEA/PDX are as far west as the 78X can travel to. Even in those cases, if there's a substantial delay, the crew will be operating 'at discretion'. Bottom line = we're unlikely to see a 78X on LHR-LAX until it gets crew bunks, which it might never do to be honest.

I'm booked on BA193 LHR-DFW in early May. Just checked and still showing as an A380 on my booking.

There seems to be some chopping and changing going on - EF definitely showed a B781 service earlier today, but now it is only the A380 service (although looking at the timetable, the EI codeshare still shows a B781 on the schedule), so I guess it is too early to nail down where BA will be sending the B781 outside of SEA and IAH.

Tks. Will be keeping a close eye on this flight and will report any changes on my booking. Had the good fortune to experience the 781 on BA192/193 many times during the pandemic and would definitely prefer it over the A380.

I'm booked into First on April 14th to Chicago on BA 297. Shows as a 781. Very excited!
Do they still have buddy dining in the new First?

A380 on BA 296 for the return

I would say really there is no real difference between the 787-10 and 787-9 First seats - apart from age and wear and tear and an irritatingly bad user interface to the seat management/lighting. Don't get excited over it.
There is no buddy dining on any 787 First seat.
