Currently on the airbridge waiting to board the 1403 to LHR
Just behind 2 Golds,
Pax 1: I’ve never been op’uped
Pax2: in a loud and obnoxious tone for all to hear - proceeds to list all the times he’s been upgraded including the best EVER! J to F.
sadly the walls on the jet bridge are not hard enough for me to bang my head against
as they board - they end up in ET…..

Picture this…
Enjoying a cocktail in the infinity pool of an exclusive Indian Ocean resort with your beloved…enjoying light conversation and the scenery. And then, all of a sudden a fellow guest …
”OH MA GAWWWD - ARE YOU GUYS OVER THERE BRITISH? I’m gold tier with your airline, British Airways - what’s your status? Who did you fly with?”
Sounds farfetched - spent the next 8 days avoiding said fellow guest as they were absolutely BESOTTED by their airline status.

Self-upgrader on my ZRH-LCY right now. He saw 5C/D empty and just sat in there until the people whose seats it was got the FA who checked and sent him and his cabin luggage to his rightful seat in row 9 - not even that far down so a bit pointless. There's 6 rows of CE on the flight.

Today in the CCR - some middle-aged chap with an unbearable sense of self-importance getting quite upset at the BA staff behind the counter, that he's not been picked up at all this year by the special services team and driven to immigration. Apparently they used to do that for him on every flight pre-pandemic. I distinctly remember someone else posting about this here quite recently - could it be the same guy? He was happily divulging how many TPs he has to anyone in earshot: 6,500. Granted that's a lot, but he also did say that QR is better (which suggests that a fair portion of those points were accrued on other airlines).

Still doesn’t excuse being a total door knob, mind you!

i think to be clear tho, getting 6500 tps per se never used to entitle you to a car to/from the plane anyway prior to covid. you can easily get that level of tps and more, and not be deemed a high value ggl or get any attention from ss.
i suppose in the context of this thread the red trouser man did say to ba dykwia, and they said yes we do and no you don't get a car
