Thanks

Whenever the app or website shows “adverse weather” it is the same as ‘WEAN’.

Two hour delay DBV to LGW this morning 😥 Just saw update while in this small lounge. Going to feel like a long time.

Why so many cancellations today? I’ll take the two hour delay over a cancellation 🤞

EDIT: I see G-MIDT was two hours late departing LGW this morning.

Do we know why BA seem to just be regularly cancelling a bunch of flights everyday at the moment? I was affected by BA640's cancellation on 7th June (to Athens) and everyone I asked at the Airport or Customer Services just said they don't know why it was cancelled as the reason wasn't showing.

I've only recently started flying pretty regularly, but it does seem to be a particularly rough time to be travelling BA?

Flying to Milan next week, and that flight has been cancelled a couple of times in the last week, so hoping I don't have to go through it again!

Yes I think it is mentioned upthread, scattered about. But in essence BA is short of crew, short of ground staff resources, has an issue with timekeeping with flows from these factors, and is short of some airframes too. Ideally they want about 330-340 departures out of LHR, but they only have the capacity for about 300-310. Consequently every day there are between 5 and 30 cancellations daily, and some places seem to get hit more than others. Domestics, CDG, Milan, BCN often feature, it's rare to see DUS or FRA in the list though they do happen.

Longhauls are almost all connected with insufficient A350s and some limitations on B787s. A380s have a reliability issue, though that has improved slightly more recently.

Other airlines have problems too, there were half a dozen cancellations from the Lufthansa Group yesterday thanks to the weather, but BA continues to limp somewhat. It should be said that probably 95% plus of travellers travel more-or-less as planned.

After a 2 hr ‘delay’ and wait airside last night the 1316 was eventually cancelled.

No airside support simply told to book own accommodation transport etc and claim…

Also to call the airline to arrange rebooking. Rebooked today LHR BHD ABZ and arrived 16 hrs late.

No mention of weather in the cancellation email/text so can I claim? Naive question but how do I find this out myself? Or do I ask a friend here??

thanks

Yesterday wasn't completely BA's fault seemingly - Easyjet at Gatwick had a pretty big meltdown and not for the first time recently either - weather - related/unrelated ATC restrictions and seemingly absolutely no slack in the schedules to recover, just cancelling flights to protect later ops is all they can do

BA1474 21st April 2023

Hello,

does anyone have information on BA1474 LHR-GLA on 21st April? BA have refused my claim because it apparently was cancelled for commercial reasons and out of their control.

This seems like nonsense to me so if anyone can help with some details that would be amazing!

thx!

There is a long running thread on this and a combination of staff shortages and airframe issues. I'm not sure which applies in that specific flight as I can't see anything on Expertflyer however someone might post why.
