BA107 LHR-DXB 14/06/23 Cancellation Reason and Compensation.

Hi everyone,

I am hoping someone with the available resources can help me with the cancellation reason for the BA107 from LHR to DXB yesterday (14/06/23). My mum was due to fly out from ABZ via LHR and onto DXB yesterday and when she got to the airport she was informed BA107 had been cancelled and they were very unhelpful at getting her rebooked on any of the later flights and by the time they had agreed to help, the only option was a downgrade to WTP and in standby for CW, however at which point there were no more seats on the ABZ-LHR flight (so they had reallocated her original seat already). She had arrived at the airport at 5am too, which is far from ideal to have to turn round again. She is now booked on today's BA107 in original booking class and they have extended her inbound by 24 hours so she has the same amount of time in Dubai with my family, so it is all good now.

I am hoping this is a clear cut case for delay compensation, but knowing BA they will try and get out of it somehow. Am I right in thinking the compensation should be the 600 Euro + 2 x taxi fares (from airport yesterday and to airport today)?

Yes, see post 900 just above - it went down for equipment shortage reasons and so cancel compensation is payable.

Anyone have any idea why BA464 LHR/MAD on 11/06 and now BA7054 MAD/LHR tomorrow (16/06) were cancelled

This is now both legs of my trip and although I was rebooked on a later flight out, I was flying from GLA and they also cancelled my GLA/LHR putting me on a later flight and that was one of the diversions to Luton so I missed the Madrid connection and ended up a day late! Realise the weather won't be compensated but given the original flight seemed to be cancelled the day before for no reason, keen to understand if any comp likely. Thanks!

BA0828 Cancellation Reason

Woke up at 04.45am this morning to find an email and text from BA saying BA0828 (820am) to Dublin cancelled and putting me on BA0836 at 1310. Puts a nice hole in a busy 2 day work trip. Anyone know the reason for the cancellation?

The aircraft scheduled to operate that flight is still at Heathrow and has been there since 8.45pm yesterday. According to FR24 it's not got a flight scheduled until 4.40pm today. That suggests a tech issue.

OK thanks, I am at T5 now and there are a handful of short hauls cancelled today so I guess unlucky, albeit inconvenient. Its a good way for BA to drive revenue as I will now need fly again next week!

It's referred to in a few posts above, we don't have the reason yet, but I suspect it's a lack of crew or TECHY, almost all these cancellations are like this. It's likely to be claimable given the timing of the cancellation.

Even more annoying that they didnt put me on the 1040 which was the next plane.

BA430 is also cancelled. (AMS) planned frame is going to GVA instead.
Would be great if someone can pull up the reason for canx - a friend is meant to be on this flight going to HKG.

Returning from MAD on Sunday both BA463 and BA465 were cancelled, which struck me as a little unusual given the time between them. Option was a very very early start and route back via BCN or downgrade and fly back with IB at a more reasonable time. Went for the IB. Not as bad as I feared but then I haven't flown them for years.

Guess weather disrupted LHR for several hours so no point in reaching out?

Returning today 15June from BGI to LHR to GLA. Our original connecting flight LHR to GLA 16 June was the BA1474 dep 08.15 and we found out yesterday via the LHR app that this flight was cancelled on looking at the BA app we had been re-booked on the BA1476 dep 10.10. On trying to allocate seats for the BA1476 found this not possible on the BA App so went online and found this flight also no longer there. Called BA holidays who confirmed both the LHR - GLA flights mentioned above were cancelled but they did not know why and now we are on the BA 1492 dep LHR 18.30 which was the earliest available as earlier flights were fully booked. Does anyone know the reason why the BA1474 and BA1476 are cancelled for June 16th. As we are well over a 4 hiur delay arriving in GLA will be putting in a claim. Thanks in advance

There are currently four Y seats on the LGW flight and you'd have plenty of time to make it across in an Uber which I'd then put the receipt in for

Alternatively you could ask them to rebook you onto LNER to Edinburgh

Either would be preferable to a whole day waiting to get home for me !

Given the weather was as disrupted as you know, the cancellation wouldnt exactly be unusual...
I'd assume you were talking about sunday previous, as opposed to 3 days later?
