Sigwx - thanks for your omnipresent and omniscient help in this thread, but what does that mean in terms of getting a 261 claim paid?? He's quite interested in the idea of 2600 back from his hols...

Most welcome. A claim would (eventually) be successful.

Can anyone enlight me as to why the flight was 4.5hrs late in departing LHR? I've put in for compensation on the return from Houston (BA196), but I suspect they will try and hide behind the medical emergency (more or less had that caused confirmed when we checked in the following day for our rebooked flight). It would always have been delayed even if the medical diversion had not occured.

There is a delayed update regarding the inquiry I asked about here in June, which was kindly addressed by CWS. I've noticed others expressing concerns about a similar issue (using Uber from the airport after landing beyond the last train with a delay that isn't long enough for compensation). I can confirm that my Uber expense was covered by BA, and my flight was delayed due to reasons ZY and ZW. However, it took BA a month to respond to my claim, and consequently another week to deposit the amount into my bank (I attached my bank details in the initial communication with BA).

An update from British Airways

Were sorry that your recent flight to London with us wasdelayed. We know this isnt what you expect when you travel with us, so we understand why you needed to let us know about this. Wed also like to thank you for your patience while we dealt with high volumes of queries caused by this problem.

Were happy to pay you back 79.08 for the costs you had to pay because of this disruption. This has been raised as a bank transfer, to your Starling bank account. Please allow up to 21 days for the payment to process.

Once again, please accept our apologies for your experience on this trip. We hope to welcome you back on board soon. If I can help with anything else, please contact me directly using the blue link below.

The aircraft (G-ZBKM) was delayed out of Heathrow predominantly due to over running maintainence work.

BA 196 is listed as OPEN due to the medical diversion and CBP opening hours issue, so this will need to be taken further.

I think we now have all today's flight cancellation reasons except for one GLA online. As far as I can tell, if your flight was cancelled before 09:00 hrs today it is probably claimable. If it was cancelled after 09:00 (and more probably after 11:30) then it's HADACAB, weather, and not claimable. There is a jargon rich HAL message, full of DVCs and SIDS, that went out at 14:30 today to say big nasty clouds all over Europe and tonight may be problematic.

That's helpful. Thanks. So the original delay of BA197 was maintenance but then changed to OPEN, and then they class the cancellation of BA196 as OPEN, because of medical on the outbound flight.

I can imagine they're not going to give me compensation on the Maintenance problem.

Thanks as ever for the information CWS. Im hoping to get one of the later Glasgow flights tonight - could you remind me if it is suddenly cancelled and I cant fly until tomorrow, can I quickly book a nearby hotel without having to join a massive queue and then claim back later? Thanks

Is there a way of finding out why tomorrow's BA1337 NCL-LHR (Sat 26th, for the avoidance of doubt) has been cancelled? I've just had the email so I'm assuming it's a slam dunk for compensation.

I'm really annoyed by this one. My outbound flight was cancelled, then I got rerouted onto a LNER service, which was then messed up by the train strike tomorrow. So the whole trip has to be cancelled and it's been a massive waste of time.

It's on both BA.com and HAL's website.
