Strange one, as they flew around a couple of weeks ago when Niger airspace was last closed, and went via Nigeria in a big L shape. I wonder how reasonable it is to not do the same again..

Short notice cancellations for today from LHR, quite a few
BA217 IAD - B772
BA1492 GLA
BA944 DUS
BA410 IBZ
BA450 PMI
BA726 GVA
BA382 MRS
BA430 AMS
BA524 FLR

Plus on Saturday I see there was one extra late longhaul cancellation
BA181 EWR - B78X

I don't know the cause of the above but it's a lot more than other airlines' cancellations today so this is likely to be shortage of crew and/or aircraft. Florence is not weather on this occasion.
BA217 IAD - B772
BA1492 GLA
BA944 DUS
BA410 IBZ
BA450 PMI
BA726 GVA

All the above are TECY. 7 SH Airbus out of action yesterday.

BA382 MRS
BA430 AMS
BA524 FLR

All three are FCRY.

181 of Sat 5th due to a draining the battery during the tow from west base. TECY.

Given how disorganised the airspace in that region is in general Id be very wary with every other Tom, Dick and Harry attempting the same new route in the IFBP zone. Chaos would be an apt description and a generous one at that. Given the amount of airspace that is closed off for various reasons, the only viable alternative is to go to via Saudi, Oman, drop into oceanic then hang a right to head west again.

A lack of pilots, FCRY.

To early to see but will almost certainly be FCRY. Several LGW sectors being proactively cancelled to give slack in the system. BA is running a significant pilot recruitment campaign now specifically for LGW.

I suspected it may be the case. If it is FCRY, this is claimable as far as I can tell? 7-14 days notice and the replacement flight arriving more than four hours later?

Does anybody have the cancellation reason for BA568 LHR to LIN on Fri 4 Aug? A friend was booked on it, she ended up getting to MXP instead of LIN at around midnight, incurring additional hotel and train expenses but was, thankfully, still able to get to the wedding she had travelled for the next day. I've told her to keep receipts for all additional expenses and claim under duty of care, just not sure of the reason for cancellation so can't advise her on whether EC261 would be due in this case.

Thanks, apologies for missing this upthread. Without knowing exactly what these codes mean, am I safe to assume that 'TEC' indicates a technical issue with the aircraft and therefore EC261-eligible?

You assume correctly.
TEC = technical and Y = yes for compensation

Any idea how long it should take for a response to a claim? My flight from CPH to LHR got cancelled so had to spend an extra night there. As you can imagine not the cheapest city to have to spend another night in.... been waiting since 21/06 for a response from BA.

I have expertflyer data, but any additional info avaliable for BA2796 LGW to AGP 7th August? A friend was booked on it and it was cancelled with 15 mins to boarding for operational reasons, so I'm guessing it went tech.
