Can you earn tier points when you buy an extra seat?

Can you get double tier points if you buy an extra seat on BA , American, or Alaska?
Thanks,

If you take your seat on a 5 day holiday, you can get double tier points.

I'm not sure this is correct. Iirc, United lets you earn redeemable miles for the extra sear but you do not earn premier qualifying points/miles/dollars for the purchase.

As an academic exercise, if that was possible I wonder how many TPs that could get you if you chartered an entire 380 for a BA holiday to SYD... obviously assuming such largesse would mean every seat booked to F/J/W/Y

GGLfL in a single flight?

Qantas appear to give extra status credits (their equivalent of tier points) in the Qantas Frequent Flyer programme when booking an extra seat on a Qantas flight.

I suppose in a roundabout way when you buy a Club Europe fare you are paying extra for the seat next to you to be unoccupied (other than sometimes by a table) and you get extra tier points.

it would give you GGLfL. However the cost would be around £1.8-2million for the return trip so not sure if it would be cost effective at all with the £16-20 per tier point.the 1250 return trip to MAN would only cost around £350000. Maybe a bit more.

I stand corrected, under their old formula you could do so since miles flown were all that counted toward status.
