BA male pilots and cabin crew told they can wear make-up

According to this Daily Mail article, a BA internal memo yesterday said:

BA was said to be nearing the end of a review of its longstanding uniform policy after rival Virgin Atlantic announced it was making its traditional male and female uniform gender-neutral. Its uniform guidelines have traditionally been divided by gender, but recently it has tried to modernise its image and last year dropped 'ladies and gentlemen' in announcements in a bid to make 'all customers feel welcome'. Male pilots and cabin crew at BA have been told they can wear a 'touch of mascara and lip colour' and false eyelashes, and paint their nails.

No idea what the source is. Wonder if the plans for a new uniform are back in the works.
Good on them, I say.
I think someone (BA CC) was fired for wearing a "man-bun" a few years ago?

Excellent.
And if the tattoo thread is anything to go by, this will descend into 16th century puritanism quickly.

Hopefully it'll take less than 200 years to get to men wearing 18th-century style rouge and outrageous powdered wigs.

They'd better start setting their alarm clocks one hour earlier than usual then.

CC on a flight I was on last Sunday had a man-bun. Service was superb. If he wanted to wear make up with that I couldnt care less.

Seriously, its 2022. I couldnt care less what gender cabin crew are or whether that is biological or something else.

Good to read. Its 2022 not 1922, although it seems a disturbingly high % of the population would rather things never changed lest their sensibilities be offended

Having seen some of the sights of the new crew in the last 10 years you better stand by for Rue Paul’s Drag Race contestants.🙈

If they meet the uniform standards and are able to deliver the BA service, then that's absolutely fine by me. I welcome it.

As long as it meets BAs Uniform Policy, I honestly really don't care if Pilots or CC have multiple tattoos on their necks/hands, wear a wee bit of lipstick, wear a skirt etc. It's 2022.

As long as they are professional Pilots, and I wholly trust BA Pilots with my life, and that the CC are also professional providing a good service then that's what's really important. I also implicitly trust CC with my safety too and for all of BAs negatives these are the first and foremost 2 important things that reassures me when flying BA. BAEC, Status, Avios etc are much further down my list tbh.

One of the first things they need to do is make sure that the uniform they are given fits, so many look like over filled sausages!
