Today I bought a low value rail ticket for travel in a few weeks time, £3.60. I got the PDF ticket by email in a few minutes, and the 3 Avios were awarded into my BAEC account in 38 minutes.

As someone who only uses trains across the water ( I live in NI) a few times a year, what would be the advantage of booking rail via Uber at 1 avios per £, when Trainline I think is 3 per £? Are fares cheaper or is Trainline unreliable at crediting avios?

Trainline from what I can see is 3 avios per £ for a new customer, but only 1 per £ for existing customers. I used to use trainline but when they started adding booking fees it made them more expensive than other companies so I switched elsewhere. I haven't used them in along time so no idea if they still charge booking fees.
Transport for Wales is currently 4 avios per £, although in my experience it takes a very long time for the avios to credit - 5 or 6 months is my experience so far.
