Have never been a fan of the CE product (though do book into it occasionally if an avios redemption or part of an ex EU multi-sector J class trip), and as such am used to packing a bit of food in my carry-on to enjoy whilst sat in ET.

I do think that - even if holding a CE ticket - it’s a sensible contingency to adopt ahead of any BA s/h sector.

BA failings of all kinds appear more and more frequent. BA's website / app also has spent the last couple of weeks seemingly permanently on the verge of crashing.
Agreed, absolute farce. Looking for flights to Glasgow for tomorrow and response was “we don’t operate that route, then no flights available. On the 3rd attempt it worked. Not a single future booking shows under my profile!

Was given a €28.95 voucher at AMS for no catering in CE today. I’m curious if there really will be nothing at all on board, in particular drinks (the email said no).

BA.Fiasco.com is having one of those (frequent) days. Took us ages to book a BA Holiday earlier … MMB only accessible via App, not Website, etc etc.

To answer my own question - the bar was fully stocked, including the 2007 Castelnau Brut Millesime (which, at least at 24,000 feet, is quite acceptable!) and a snack basket was passed through the cabin several times.

I flew to Dublin yesterday evening on a flight that had no catering. There was no apology, nor even acknowledgement, from the cabin crew, just an announcement that "in Club Europe we'll be offering a choice of tea, coffee or water and in the Eurotraveller cabin we'll be offering... uh... water".

The hot drinks were served in paper cups and the water in plastic cups because not even bottles of water had been loaded. And this at BA's home base. It was shameful.

It is probably tactical to manage delays. If an aircraft has a tight turnaround and there is a delay to the catering service availability, BA ops and dispatch will probably decide to drop the loading of meals. Domestics are an easy target as passengers have no other choice of carrier at LHR. Put up and shut up management style.

I flew CE a lot in the mid to late 90s and catering was always on board, even domestic hot meal services on full 757s or 767s!

T5 was a mess yesterday, with delays and cancellations creeping across the boards as the afternoon progressed. There were very long queues at the customer service desks; those at the back of the lines were facing waits of hours to rebook.

My flight was delayed by the late arrival of the incoming aircraft, then further by the flight crew being delayed on an incoming flight, then by there being no dispatcher available. Yet there was, somehow, still no time to load even bottles of water.

I wonder if anyone at BA even cares.

No catering on the BA1496 22.00 GLA service last night, no explanation from the crew. All we had was the remnants of the previous flights bar. Was offered a glass for my drink was but was told they couldn’t guarantee it was clean.

Also in this case this could come very handy.

Ba 1455 1515 edi lhr 30th nov

Hi

Just got through security at edi and get a sms message re no food and drink on the ba1455 today and to speak to a team member ( easier said than done with no ba lounge staff as the edi lounge is closed)
will try the gate staff after the earlier heathrow flight closes
flight also 1hr late so due out around 1703

Regards

Tbs

Ps

Some menzies aviation staff have just come round the Aspire lounge with the gbp 10 voucher
pps

And Gate 6 at edi sucks as it is squashed between all bar one and Costa with limited seating room. Down to the tarmac waiting by the door as cleaning was not completed.
at least we are boarding now

Regards

Tbs

we did have drinks ( inc champagne) inc coffee and tea with nuts and biscuits in Club europe

and of course we get parked well off the c gates and are bussed ( 2 pax were on the 1950 to muc snd rebooked automatically to a flight tomorrow afternoon ( they were polite but not pleased about it )

Where can you use the Ł10 voucher ?

Was it just for food or could you use it for chocolates or the like in WHS ?

I forgot to write here than on November 15th there was no catering on DUB-LHR (first flight of the day).
I got an SMS during the night telling me that I could get a 15 euro voucher at check-in desk. The agent there was well aware and told me before I could mention it.
The only issue was that they did not accept the voucher at WHS. Booth did, though (of course only for food items).

The plane galley was empty of any trolley, by the way. I don't think they even had the jugs for coffee ad tea. But they gave bottled water and a packaged cookies to CE passengers.
