Its incorrect
Yes I noticed that, and got rather excited ... but not for long

I do hope, at some point, BA will put First in some of their A350s.

This clearly wasn’t proof read. This badly worded sentence just causes confusion. The A350 doesn’t have F.

Maybe it's a covid thing? I agree with you, it doesn't look nice.

I remember, maybe about ten years ago, being in the Las Vegas BA lounge and finding almost everything was packaged or wrapped in clingfilm. An example was guacamole in plastic tubes (the kind you get sauce in). It was very depressing (mind you, the whole lounge was dark and gloomy). I thought at the time the excess packaging might reflect new hygiene regulations specific to the USA, but I've seen nothing like it since. Why would BA think anyone would want guacamole in a tube?

Anyway, back to the nanny-inspired BA CW catering. Any feedback yet? Have you all had your 5 a day by now? Will they let you off the plane if you haven't eaten all your vegetables?

That indeed is the reason and we seemingly still need to get it across that COVID is not spread via formite transmission, even if other viruses can spread via formite transmission. So wrapped food or otherwise makes no difference.

Well day 1 of the new catering, and near enough every longhaul is delayed due to the caterers.

Currently waiting for LHR-JFK and the screens are showing delay after delay.

On a related note, I was talking to one of the crew yesterday who advised they've been trained to do the CW service in 3.5 hours.

That seems like madness!

I'm in F today otherwise I'd take photos of the new service.

The customer often perceives that because food is wrapped it is 'safer' compared with unwrapped food. Which of course is a fact - there are many pathogens etc. that can be transmitted through contact with infected persons either direct or indirect. Public awareness of health & safety issues has been heightened considerably because of COVID.

Just a reminder that as today is launch day, there will be a lot of interest in this thread from FTers eagerly awaiting the first reviews and pictures. Please bear this in mind when posting. I think they've probably had enough of "Musings on Brits and their Afternoon Tea!", "Custard" and "Eating Insects" by now.

The crew haven’t been trained to do the service in CW but during the trials it took 3 to 3.5, I’m sure it will become slicker as experience is gained.
