All good and sorted for tomorrow's flight back and forth to Sofia. Boarding passes issued so no issues with that anymore despite some stories of that before.

It’s only really when the SOF-LHR was the start of a longer booking potentially going to the US when there have been issues getting a bp. For a simple one way, return, and even a b2b return, there shouldn’t be a problem.

Just taken up slow stroll up to the advertised gate 4 for boarding, and naturally, they've not started boarding the busses as of yet. Not a chance this is going on time.
Zero signs on 4a and 4b even telling you which flights are departing.
Then a subtle voice from gate 4b saying "group 3 only for Sofia". Few turned away and a man / child with a Trunki tried to walk in front of me whilst I was at the front of the non-existent queue.

Nice jaunt over to near enough T3 with plenty of people shoving others out of the way.

So far, miserable, disinterested, fairly rude staff in Boots and at the gate. MAN is beating LHR hands down at present.

Few empty seats in CE though. 1A is empty even though it was taken when I checked in.

More lack of happy staff in the Aspire lounge (although one did smile just now).
Not the easiest place to find, although under a minute walk from gate C1. As said earlier, head down the stairs towards baggage reclaim etc., and do a 180 along the side wall.
Orange juice machine is there -will try it out next week on my return flight. Little in the way of food, but I'll eat something on the plane

There's a smoking room should that interest anyone.

I’ve got a couple of jaunts booked to Sofia, starting with a B2B on 5th November (14 rows of CE!) then doing a little city break in Sofia 10th to November! Any tips on attractions to see?

The Palace - National Art Gallery, "Ivan Vazov" National Theater, St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral (great for a photo!) and the Borisova Gradina Park

Any reason why sof is so popular as opposed to the other 80tp destinations?

It was the cheapest at £193, and there were certain days when you could book it as a back to back since turnaround was longer than minimum connection time.

It’s a doddle for a B2B. You get off and back in again without any formalities. Even I could,do it. It’s also quite decently priced which helps as well
