i don’t think any other country does it.
for the rest, as mentioned, this should only make a difference on who gets their drink first.. in Tera of meal choices, the norm should be that crew ask for meal preferences of everyone from front to back and note them but then reconcile with loads and prioritise by status, so blue in row 1 might have been able to speak earlier than gold in row 4, but it’s the gold in row 4 who get to eat their preferred dish….

I've been fortunate enough to fly F on the BA a380 a few times and one thing to be aware of is that if sitting in 1A or 1K there can be a troublesome rattle from the wardrobe doors.

Also depends on how many crew and who is doing what. If lightly loaded, it may be there are only 2 or even 1 crew member. One may stay in the galley & do all the prep, whilst the other is cabin based - so they might do a horseshoe type pass, starting at the rear on the right hand side, forwards, then ending at rear on left. There might be two cabin based crew who might take an aisle each front to back, but if all the pax are seated on LHS one might work say rows 1-3, the other might do 4/5 and so on. There might be a group travelling together who all want to order together or the parents might order for their 4 kids (ie group of 6) who might be spread across cabin.
You might be in row 1 and the crew might intend to start from row 1 but then Mr 2A might walk into the galley before start of service and ask if the crew can save them x or y.
It just depends on the operational factors on the day & I think if you start to second guess it to that degree, the risk is you over think it & lose enjoyment! Trust me as in the early days I’ve been there myself! As a rule of thumb you generally do best the further forward you are. Main point I’d make though is if there is something you’d like or if something isn’t offered and you’d like it, do just politely ask & don’t sit there waiting. For example, if actually you’d prefer the sandwiches off the second service or a dessert etc then just say. The worst you’ll get is a no but crew don’t always have a perfectly functioning crystal ball.
