Bali with BA and OW
Trying to book some tickets in J for the family to Bali for next Feb.
I assume that I will need to go via Singapore with BA but any suggestions for how I get to Bali with OW airlines (assuming that is even possible).
Thanks.

Hi,
For Bali you could try via
Kuala Lumpur with Malaysian
Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific
Doha with Qatar
To Singapore on BA then local/loco carrier to DPS

DO NOT fly with CX….I would avoid HK transit at the moment with CX, their schedules are fake and they will screw you up badly with their frequent cancellations and schedule changes, fly QR or MH instead.

We did KLM from Singapore to Bali back in 2019. Not OW, but you can pick up very good Business class fares on that 5th freedom route and it’s a B77W plus means you can use BA to Singapore if you are looking to use Avios / Amex vouchers etc.and the extra jaunt across to Bali isn’t particularly long.

But Qatar QR the best route (QR use avois as ff currency). Has departures from other UK airports- not just LHR

Pre pandemic Bali (for Scuba) was an annual trip for us.
We preferrred BA (ex AMS) or MH (for the satays) to KL, staying overnight in the landside Sama Sama hotel. A good hotel connected by chaufered buggy for about £130 in 2019. Breakfast in the Golden Lounge then taking the 09:30 to DPS (about 4 hours).
They were very happy days, although the KL / DPS was often a clapped out 737.
Now BA have given up on KL and MH seem very expensive.

Another option is QR J to CGK and then domestic transfer to DPS with GA.
QR J fares to CGK are much much more cheaper compared to DPS (£2.5k vs £4-5k) plus 3x daily flights to CGK so more flexible schedules for you.
usually ex-EU to DPS (i.e MAD) with QR is cheaper as well.

I just had to pay 10% cash fare for 2 x infants to go with my Krisflyer tickets and can confirm that they have no fares filed to Bali at the moment sub £4.5k pp . Ex-EU may yield something, not sure about Bali but often see v good deals for Thailand ex Paris etc

We have very recently booked to go to Indonesia later this year. We're going AMS-IST-CGK-IST-FCO for about £1600 each in J on TK. I think that deal is still available.
Despite combing Google Flights for weeks we couldn't find anything OW for less than £2.5K, generally much more. There are far fewer flights to Bali than there use to be as well, so we've ended up with Jakarta (we're travelling around when we get there anyway). Domestic flights seem plentiful and mostly reasonably priced, hopefully that translates to what actually happens in a few months time.
