BA Winter 22/23 Route Updates

Might be time for a consolidated thread on BA's Winter 22/23 plans given the amount of info being reported by the very helpful London Air Travel Twitter and website account

Current Updates:

1) LHR - SIN - SYD (BA15/16) plans to change from a B789 to a B77W for the winter season which will significantly improve the chances of getting CS on the route
2) LHR - SEA goes down to 1 daily flight
3) LHR - JNB will be operated by 1 x A380 and 1 x B789 until at least January
4) LHR - LAX goes back to just 2 daily flights until December at least
5) LHR - MSY goes down to 3 flights per week (from 5)
6) LHR - BKK suspended (officially)
7) LGW - MAN has been suspended
8) LON - MCO flights consolidated at LGW for Winter 22/23

Additional updates will be reported as they are released

CHECK..

Just had the notification and my 1st November SIN outbound is now NCS, we come back First and have no idea if the 77W is and improvement or not over the 789. Time will tell.

One of the JNB flights going to 788 means no F which is a significant reduction. We’re in F on the flights now changed to 787s but at end of Jan so we’ll see what happens

The press release on the JNB flights didn't state which B787 model would operate the 2nd JNB flight, but given there is no F on the current A350 JNB flights and the A380 offers 14 F seats, I opted to insert B788/B789 options to the announcement until we know more about what BA plans to do with F on that 2nd service, so don't stress too much for the moment.

Yes, that would be a significant reduction. On the same switched flights 20 Dec and 1 Jan still showing in F, but will need to watch.

Isn’t the BA strategy to phase out First as we know it anyway? The future being an extremely small F cabin for an extremely select few routes?

Agreed. We have a flight to SIN in December (now 789), and then a flight back from SYD in January (now 77h, with Club Suites).

Only 1x daily HKG on 789, although it's debatable if that will survive as Virgin have already announced they won't be flying the route until March.

Just been informed slight change in time for our November flight CPT-LHR BA42 - moved from 21.55 dept to 21.05 - no big deal for us. However I checked the seat map and it's now an A350 instead of 77L which I think is a moderate upgrade, although both have CS.

I am most excited about the SIN -- 77W going might mean some 14-seater first on the route. i could find 0 A seats for most of august and september...

Sorry to throw a dampener on your excitement but the 77Ws allocated for the winter schedule all look to be refurbished with 8F.

The significant uplift in seats is in J, from 48J on a 789 to 76 on a refurbished 77W CS, which is even more than pre-covid to Sydney when the unrefurbed 77Ws had 56J.

I wonder if any more I class fares might pop up, now it looks pretty nailed on for CS I might finally get use of my Companion Voucher

Ah well good to know - i am already struggling - Both BKK AND SIN --> ZRH are sold out in F most of the time, and BA only offers sporadic full F fare always now, i really wanna go and renew my HON or focus on GGL but lack of actual physical seats make it impossible. not everyone can plan 6 months in advance to grab an avios seat...
