For those that start to suffering from nostalgia and withdrawal symptons of the non schengen Aspire Lounge:
I offer a quick trip through memory lane....
which can serve as a point of comparison when the new lounge opens ....

Will it be truely an improvement?
an AMEX Centurion/ Platinum tie up to keep it exclusive and start selling the dream in sign ups?
unveiling an announced similair branded Louis Vouitton café making it a curated destinstion?
a lounge within a lounge dividing travelclass from status?
will it have a dedicated first class section for EK Emirates First passengers?
will it instal electronic waiting room call signs and paging buzzers to manage the priority pass entry?
can it compete with the quirky Dutchy experience offered by KLM nonschengen lounge 52 and the exclusive members only privium lounge west ?
or is the refurb strictly to enjoy new monetising money making enhancements ?

the good:

the bad:
https://liveandletsfly.com/aspire-lo...terdam-review/

the ugly:

Eagerly awaiting the glamerous grand opening in 2024!
Let's start the fawning !

Hi Team. Flying in and then out of AMS, connecting to BA Club to London. No One world status.
the connection is 5 hours so was hoping for a lounge. What is the current situation? Passing through on 28th Dec. Is there any type of lounge for BA, if not, are food/drinks vouchers supplied?? Any insight welcome.!

I'm coming on from Asia. With the long connection, are there any options in other areas of the airport using One World lounges (European side etc). Have EU passport so no problem with access

Yikes, that's not great for 5 hours. I would suggest OP maximise their onboard F&B both in and out.
AMS was rubbish even at the best of times, sounds like it has got even worse.

Admittedly it does nothing for QTFLYER , but the last suggestion of reopening date I've seen was Jan I think? Anyone heard more...? Until then it's presumably just Cafe Flor.

We flew last week, it’s still only Cafe Flor.
We flew on Qatar Airways P class with no lounge access so entered using BA Silver card, we were offered a 20 Euro voucher as an alternative.

There was also a repurposed cafe up near where Aspire used to be, I can't remember the name, which was for PP / Dragonpass, etc holders. I would hope that's still there. When you look on the AMS website for F&B offering it says the cafe is closed, which is correct as it's not open to the public. When I passed through AMS in October and went up to take a look they were putting people on a wait list as they were at capacity. Looking inside it looked like a tip with tables uncleared, etc.

I'd so take the 20 Euro voucher over Cafe Flor!

Currently sat in Cafe Flor, still quiet at this time of the morning. I asked the lady on reception when the refurbished lounge was due to reopen and the latest news she had was March 2024! Better be impressive after all this time.

Amusingly, BA still have this on their website

https://www.britishairways.com/cms/g...-Lounge-BA.pdf

It refers to the lounge #40 above Starbucks which must date back quite a few years ago when it originally opened
