Traveling in different class to child

The sad fact is people do all the time. It's quite common for parents to fly Club and have the kids down the back. To the point BA even publish guidelines about the policy on their website. If I were the OP I'd be quite happy on my own in relative peace and quiet away from the wife and child for a few hours.... naturally it would be spun in a chivalrous fashion for the maximum brownie points factor.
My parents recently flew in first, whilst they left me in the back to my own devices. And I am a child.......well, THEIR child, not A CHILD.

I'm patently doing something wrong here; booked wife in F to Chicago and me in Club.
Not worth the aggro to put her in WT or WT+.
