For those travelling from T5 today and who have access to the First Wing, don’t be fooled by a humongous queue going almost to the entrance. The queue is actually for a temporary area for baggage sorting (related to the baggage system meltdown mentioned in another thread). Very cleverly (…) BA decided to put its entrance right next to the first wing (it could have easily been facing landside). The result is that many passengers are stuck in the queue forever, mistakenly thinking it’s the queue to the first wing check-in.

Arrived back from MCO this morning nearly. two hours late on BA 204 T3.
Left my son to collect the luggage (which took nearly an hour) to pop out for a cigarette and had difficulty accessing the smoking area as the Security Queue was out the door and stretching back outside nearly to arrivals blocking it off.
Ironically UK Border was empty on arrival from USA at around 11am - get through quickly to find your case is not there.

She was correct, if it was a G-GAT aircraft. About 4-5 years ago BA were deciding whether to leave LGW, and decided the business plan worked if they out an extra row in where the wardrobe is on other aircraft, EasyJet style. Hence 1A and 1C on Gatwick aircraft is, in fact, an exit seat. It is also bookable by non-golds. It is not a good place to sit, although one can have lovely chats with the CC…

Ahhh - noticed this today. Was with the family in “Fast” Track as no GGL/additional GCH (yet). Generally an awful experience all round.

With FW being closed we used the regular transit route. As our inbound was delayed we made it through the security scanners literally 2 minutes before the 35 min. cutoff time. Security itself after that was not too bad (+/- 15 min.) but obviously no Fast track open for transit.

My apologies for some simple questions, but the information on BA's website is unclear. We have no status in oneworld and are traveling from LGW to AMS with luggage. If we purchase club europe tickets, we would receive priority checkin, priority security and lounge access - correct? The link below suggests priorty security closes at 14:00. Not very helpful for a 16:30 departure. Is the website correct?
Thanks in advance.

Need advise please! I have a 2 hour 45 minutes connection at LHR T5 -T5 tomorrow and planning to do landside by using e gate and back to airside through First wing due to the long line up at airside connection. And just wondering is it possible to go back to airside connection if there is long lineup at egate too? And what time the First Wing will be closed? My flight from Paris to Lhr is 2:30pm and catching BA84 from LHR TO YVR.

Flight connections fast track e-gates was open when going through at 11am today! Probably save at least 10-15min bypassing the mob before e-gates and another 20-30min of holding lines. There was no fast track security lane though. We were merged into everyone else in north security, but at least got to bypass the holding lines for folks coming in from land side.

North and south security at T5 looking fairly horrendous at lunchtime today. First Wing also down to one lane due to security staff shortages, so far has taken 20 mins and still waiting.
Photo doesn’t quite do it justice but the queue is snaking around, and the queue to south fast track is almost back to the First Wing.
A maximum of “three people” on the busyness display doesn’t quite cut it anymore.
