Buy own alcohol and food from Pret for consumption on board

Hi All, we were browsing the highlife pre order food and drink for short haul economy and have come to realise what a rip off it is. Pret at Heathrow sell fabulous food for takeaway along with little 2 glass bottles of wine and plastic glasses. Question is, is it ok to enjoy this onboard or are the crew going to be upset about it?

Food is absolutely fine but I think the conditions of carriage forbid outside alcohol being consumed on board. BA couldn't cut off disorderly passe gers otherwise.

There is nothing in the BA conditions of carriage that prevent you from doing just that. EasyJet and others with BOB specifically prohibit that to protect their revenue.

Unlike some other carriers BA does not specifically prohibit the OPs cost saving technique. Should the OPs behaviour fall under other areas of the conditions of carriage or the Air Navigation Order, than other suitable remedies are already in place.

Obviously this doesnt affect Heathrow flights however on BA Cityflyer you are prohibited from consuming your own alcohol.

If only the CAA had the equivalent of 'cherished plates', we could lobby BA to buy accordingly!

Recently, I've seen someone finish a bottle of rose, bought in a duty free. They even had a small plastic cup to drink from. They were discreet, with a bottle in their bag, and had no issues with the crew

I knew I'd read it here, but I didn't know it was only BACF, I thought it applied to mainline as well. Mea culpa.

BYOB was banned during the pandemic, it was illegal to consume alcohol on board UK aircraft and in airports for a few months.

Must have missed that. In June2020 they weren't selling anything in economy so we brought our own on a lil PMI trip. Crew didn't mind and even gave us plastic glasses and ice. 😯

When my clients only pay Economy flights (like tonight to DXB) I regularly steal a few Heineken from the lounge and consume them on board.

Of course only after the drinks service so it isnt that obvious (naughty I know).

Being a frequent WT traveller, I can say that the crew are very happy to take care of one's wine consumption. Not sure about Heineken though..

Careful the last time somebody did that, it led to the BA forum imploding on itself 9 years ago already!
