Will bags be checked through Fin/Ba flight to Syd?

My daughter is flying to Sydney tomorrow with Finnair LHR>Hel>Sin and Ba Sin>Syd. It is all on one ticket. She has just checked in for the Finnair legs but Finnair won’t let her check in for the final leg, It says she must check in with BA which presumably she cannot do until 24 hours before departure of that leg. When she does get to check in will her bags go all the way to Sydney or will she need to collect them
in Sin? She only has 90 mins connection.

I presume you are talking about online check-in, right? There could be some IT gremlins at work.

If it is all on one ticket, AY would be able to check in bags all the way to SYD and also most likely issue boarding passes for the BA leg.

Yes, that won't be a problem. It's entirely normal. Actually baggage handling is a separate "thing" to check-in for passengers, so it's not a subset of the OLCI / check-in process. So long as it is on one ticket and no gap between flights is greater than 24 hours, the bags will go through to SYD. The lack of boarding pass for the last section doesn't surprise me. When you are within 24 hours of the SIN flight you may be able to OLCI on BA.com anyway, but it's not a big deal even doing it in SIN.

Because there are multiple points of potential failure here, make sure that the baggage does have anything in it vital for the for first day or two (e.g. medicines). And take a photo of the contents laid out on the floor / bed before final packing.

For AU she will need to have completed the Australia Digital Passenger Declaration (DPD) on line or by the app

From what I have read not all passengers are doing this, leading to problems.

it will not be a problem, I have not had this particular issue, but on a JNB-LHR-KRK I have managed to check bags through to KRK but had to collect my LHR-KRK boarding pass in LHR.. on that occasion for some reason the JNB-LHR on BA I was on an IB code share
