They would be required on the GCM - NAS leg but become optional on the NAS - LHR leg, yes as silly as that sounds, those are the rules/policies as of now as various governments gradually undo restrictions at their own pace. But for anyone else still concerned/annoyed/frustrated/irritated, it would be good to remind ourselves that a mere 2 months ago, masks were mandatory everywhere when flying bar a few intra-Scandinavian flights, so we have indeed come a long way within this time!

Also the Netherlands is no longer on the list so that would indicate no face coverings in either direction - this is a recent update as they were on the list late last week.
Confirming KL did not require face masks inbound AMS from NCE last week (May 20th)

KLM no longer enforces face coverings and hasn't done for a few weeks now. I think they said this in April when the NL government still required face coverings.

EDIT: correction, it was in March rather than April https://thepointsguy.com/news/klm-fa...rules-boycott/

Another update today, face masks are no longer required from Turkey back to the UK, they are still required ex-UK to Turkey. Wiki updated. BA's website doesn't reflect the change just yet, however, it is what staff will follow on the day.

Just back from Marrakech. In theory Morocco still has a mask mandate in all public spaces, masks were required on outbound; but when we landed, no one had any on in the terminal building & none in any location in all of Marrakech we went to 🤦‍♀️ None required for the journey home either in the airport or on board.

With regards to the public not following any supposed "mask mandate" within Morocco itself is a problem for Moroccan authorities to resolve should they wish to do so, BA crew have followed their own company's policy correctly in this case, ie. requirement of masks ex-UK to Morocco and optional usage on return back to the UK.

I wonder why Portugal is now the only place in Europe where you have to wear a mask when leaving the country and returning to the UK.

Almost uniquely in the US there remains a mask mandate in the New York airports (not Newark NJ) due to the Port Authority interpretation of current NY state public health guidance. I would say it was about 60% observed in T7 and T8, 20% in the lounges.

That expires when you board the plane.

It is enforced with loud threatening automated announcements every ten minutes citing that "it is a federal requirement that..." which isn't the case.

I think there remains a mandate at LAX as well.

Never suggested otherwise.

Italy and Greece are now mask-optional also. This only leaves behind Spain and Portugal within BAs European network. Hopefully some fingers are pulled out soon from their respective authorities!

BA's website says that masks are required in terminals in Spain, they aren't so thats an error. They also state that masks are required flying to Spain, no mention at all from the cabin crew on the flight, so no masks worn.

It was announced boarding for BER that masks were mandatory tonight but none of the crew were wearing any so I didn't bother. There is still a mandate for FFP2 masks in local and underground trains here though. I guess planes are a federal matter but state can add what they want locally.

Well BAs policy is still that masks are required outbound to Spain so that was likely just crew deviating from policy on the day which sadly only leads to inconsistencies. Also its worth noting that all IB and IB Express wet lease services operated on behalf of BA all require masks in both directions irrespective of local laws or BAs own policies and I suspect this will remain the case until Spain finally decides to drop the mask requirement on public transport after which Id expect Iberia to modify their policy too.
